Why are some players against balancing the game around SSF?
"It was never about special snowflakes and flexing, weird take but okay. I, for one, don't like pressing too many buttons. That doesn't make me unskilled, lazy, complacent or whatever other descriptor you are trying to pluck from your vocabulary. - Unknown philosopher, ca. 2025

There are some who get same results. Gear can only get so good... It's finite and once a piece is perfect for your build there is no where else to go. Just takes no lifing to a larger extent. But in general, you can figure on half DPS with same time commit and knowledge SSF vs trade.

There's a lot of power in the game gated behind stuff that pretty much requires that level of power to obtain. Things like watcher's eye. By the time you're farming that, you don't need that. There's lots of examples of stuff you just don't get through regular play, even with gobs of time. You can trade for it and get it instantly though. I don't see the fun in that.

SSF is the best version of PoE, leave it alone, it's great as it is. Of course people cannot grow rich in pretend currency in SSF. Not price fixing in SSF either. RMT doesn't work in SSF either (if it does it's weirdly pointless).

" That's some quality hyperbole. GG(G) This game is balanced around no-lifer farmers and real money traders. Last edited by superbomb1967#5561 on Nov 28, 2021, 7:10:43 PM

" The game is literally designed around trading. You can enjoy the handicap for...whatever reason you dig it, but leave it at that. |

SSF is not harder. That's a fact. Proven by first 100 races and years of experience.
All SSF does is limit your build choice, it doesn't mean you don't have access to incredibly strong builds. SSF lost it's last morsels of appeal many years ago before we had so many league mechanic options for absolutely shockingly easy and OP crafting. I've gone to map on SSFHC on the rippiest league, I just got bored because the moment you want to try a certain build well you can't if it has any niche items. Also, on top of all of that, it's not even true SSF. You get to keep your stash and stored items, lol. SSF is a side option that's obsolete but keep coping that it's harder or somehow more of a challenge, it's not. The games dull enough already after 1-2 weeks let alone forcing yourself to only play a handful of builds. Last edited by poeGT#1333 on Nov 30, 2021, 2:31:09 PM

" The only reason SSF was even made was because projectpt kept crying that everything was unethical. |

" exactly aim, the game is balanced for ssf. people who od heavy trading can be running around with lvl100 characters doing 20 million dps a week into a league, do people think that is game balance? that is the intended way the game should look for you after a week? the intended balance is that you dont get to lvl100 and you never have that much damage. ggg have clearly stated that most people dont trade, and of the minority who do trade the majority of them only make a couple of trades per league. when people ask for an easier trade system they are told no because they want a barrier to trading so that they dont have to balance the game around people trading a lot. people misunderstand ggg, they dont want you to trade for everything, they dont balance the game around you trading for everything. they want you to potentially be able to trade because that increases the perceived value of your items. theres the vid of ziggy in a void league using a mirror to dupe a white chromatic socket item and then vendoring it for a chromatic orb. he did it because a viewer gave him a mirror and asked him to make a meme video with it because it was a void league, the mirror had no long term purpose, no one cared about it. theres people playing SSF leagues in this game who have a mirror and they keep it and treasure it. why? because its so desirable, when its in a void league its not, its meaningless. when its in the hands of anyone in the normal game its a thing, its always a thing, because that person even in ssf can move that mirror to a trade environment, get it to standard and some dude will lose their shit and pay 800 exalts for it. that makes it valuable, the player doesnt give a shit about the 800ex, they will never sell their mirror, but they keep it because THE OTHER GUY desires it and covets it and cant have it. thats what they want. no one gives a shit about ur items in diablo 3 because its all account bound, its meaningless. unless you are in a party when a thing drops, and then it COULD be given to you, and then you are jealous of it. they dont want you to trade, they understand that finding gear is more fun than trading for it, thats why the game is balanced to be perfectly fine self found, thats why trading is intentionally awful to engage with. they just also understand that when you do find something, the fact you could theoretically give it to your mate, but you wont, and hes gonna call you a bastard for finding it, that makes you item more special. this is why the item pool is so vast too, ggg understands how to make items important and that is what they really want, for you to feel like there are items in the game that are really special, that you really care about. " yes, for sure. balanced does not mean you are the same as the op no lifer who is 1 shotting the biggest boss in the game. hes not an example of the game balance working, he is an example of the game balance being broken. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

aint no way this game is balanced for ssf
ssf only looks doable if you play peak meta builds, only other option is to slave away more hours into this game than your job and i say this as a ssf whiteknight |
