Why are some players against balancing the game around SSF?

aint no way this game is balanced for ssf

ssf only looks doable if you play peak meta builds, only other option is to slave away more hours into this game than your job and i say this as a ssf whiteknight

If you think that ssf is only doable with peak meta builds you seriously have no clue how ssf works. Most meta builds are not doable in ssf, at least not without insane luck or two weeks farming the same map for cards.

What works in SSF are builds that only need rares to function, the steel skills are a really good example for skills that work really good in ssf.

Yes indeed.

99% of all meta builds right now are not doable in ssf without grinding weeks for the gear or getting absurdly insanly lucky. You are thinking of league starters instead of end game meta builds.

Just go to poe ninja and look through the most played builds. Almost all of them cant be build in a limited enviroment in such a way that they can tackle end game content. Arakali fang occultist might be the easiest one because that dagger isnt that rare.

I fully agree with you but that really is a terrible example.

However, summon skeletons, vortex, toxic rain, corrupting fever, seismic trap are all; popular, capable of being taken to endgame and very SSF friendly.

I don't choose to play SSF but I don't trade a lot either as I genuinely hate the trade experience and I have had no trouble building a siege ballista hiero. The only thing I have bought was a double hatred watchers eye.

I wont be doing Maven any time soon but that is probably more to do with the fact that I am just a bad player.

Pretty sure they both missed your point.

Yes hes beeing sarcastic but claiming you can only do ssf with the meta builds is completly wrong because its close to impossible to build most of the current meta builds in ssf without insane luck or month of grinding.
no you have this backwards

league starter builds can do up to alch and go t16s, and thats it

some league starter builds can scale into meta builds, but most of them don't

if you want to play the real endgame content, you don't have much of a choice than to play meta builds. to put it in simpler terms: you arent doing simulacrums or 100% delirious t16s or anything of that sort with a 500k dps no influence exsanguinate build or w/e. every build ive played in ssf that can do this level of content has worn gear that is worth dozens of exalts MINIMUM, usually the gear is over 100ex. the only exception was that one call of steel build but even that had required a 900 dps karui chopper for bossing/hard content
Yes, this problem of having to use starter builds so that you can actually play what you want later, is really an issue.

I think it definitely impacts casuals and those that dont follow PoE's insane quarterly changes closely, more severely.

But it is what it is.

I mean can you imagine being new to PoE, or a casual, and seeing Energy Blades as part of the new league marketing, and then trying it out? Only to realise that it's not happening without significant time or currency investment (if that even).

I don't blame them for quitting (or anyone else that has left in record numbers this league)
