POE is ACTUALLY dying not the drama queen kind, but the actual kind... From Developer Hubris

POE will never die, it is eternal like diablo 2. THere will always be people playing POE and even POE 2 when it comes.

POE2 isn't even a new game its just a new campaign for everyone to ignore.
So all you really end up having is playing the economy, and plowing maps. And if you want to get anywhere on your character, you are better off mowing monsters down like weeds and just collecting pennies of the ground as fast as possible than any meaningful item hunting.
So is it dead yet?

I see a lot of people having trouble with the word "just". PoE2 is not "just" a new campaign.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
Don't be silly the game won't die and is backed up by a 1.6 Trillion dollar company. Personally I don't play anymore because I don't have the same excitement for it. It's really that simple. Both in life and in games it is important to distinguish the difference between what we can change and what we cannot which we ultimately have to accept. This is Chris Wilson's game not ours.
Don't try to hold it, flow with it.

Don't get me wrong here; I don't think the game will die anytime soon. But do you think, if the shit hits the fan and PoE is on the brink of death, that Tencent will "back" PoE, instead of pulling the plug? As I see it, Tencent is in the money-making business. They bought GGG to earn money, not spend it.

In the one video Chris said something similar to this:

We are changing how rewards work, better loot and exp based on how difficult the monster is, not just how big the monster is.

If this is not a step both directions, I don't know what is. I would love to see metamorph type of scaling for normal monsters, where 400% more life yields 120% rarity chance at double rewards ect. Because this could mean slower speed could compete by over juicing their maps.

Archnemesis mods going core and that "quote" from Chris could absolutely be working towards this. Sad that this affects HH which in turn affects the economy. But that is the consequences of this request.

I don't think it will be so final as pulling the plug. Instead they'll shift the monetization model to try to salvage their investment. We would see real P2W elements like XP boosters, resurrection for HC, and other common P2W components.

If that fails, then the plug gets pulled. I'm not sure how well people will respond to POE diving headfirst into real P2W. It might lose a lot of the current player base, but open up the game to credit card warrior market space.

Either way, I think there will be some desperate shifts in the way they monetize the game before they outright kill it.
Thanks for all the fish!

I seriously (and sadly) think that, withouth rmt sites, this game would have died long time ago.

And by the way, this is simply a LIE:

You are playing a paper thin frost blade berserker and you are complaining about dying. Ever thought the reason why you constantly die is because you did not invest anything in defenses?

2500 armour, 911 evasion, 30 block chance, +2% extra max ele res and immortal call is all you got.

No extra phys reduction, no decent armour like 30k or more, no spell suppression, no good block/spell block, no recoup on block, no phys taken as... ect. ect.
You build is basicaly naked.
And on TOP of it only 5,4k life and berserkers 10% extra damage taken...

Those threads here on the forum are full of people not investing in defenses and than complain that they die, its starting to get rediculous.

Always zero investment into defenses, playing 3k HP rat nest mathil builds and than they complain that everything one shots them...

Good defence layers are good ofc, and improves your survibality ofc but... You will take one shots and unexplainable deaths anyways.

Sure, thats why the best players ever reach level 95+ in the hardest environments possible (gauntlet) - because there are tons of oneshots.

Maybe people need to actually start to learn the game rather than call oneshots they just simply didn´t spot in time "random".

Agreed, first they would try to bandage the net loss (this is what I mean by backing up) but if they continue to lose finances in the following year or by the time the contract ends then they will surely pull the plug as expected.

POE is dead, like almost everything Tencet gets its hands on, the dead game is not having the server down but the game having no relevance or engagement and MAINLY being unable to retain new players, PoE doesn't attract new players and still manages quickly push the old ones away, it focuses more and more on the whales that spend thousands of dollars on MTX alienating the real audience and that's why the game can't hold 10k active players at the end of a league, Tencent does what it's always done, invests in advertising via streamers and the game has a reasonable start to the season, but DAYS after this small boon the game loses audience and we see drops of 50%+ in the play base, not to mention that a HUGE portion of this audience is made up of trading bots. The game is dead because Tencent is a parasite, it enters the game, takes ALL investment in Q&L and focuses on quick profit, so it always targets that 1% portion that are addicted to the game this leads to alienation from the real base , an example PoE today is unplable in a group, this just made my friends list disappear, the game is increasingly focused on singleplay which is RIDICULOUS since the game is fully online and 90% of its problems come from that.
I like the game but just enter the league and see that the game is empty and that everything is mere repetition without meaning to get discouraged and make me play something else, PoE is dead and there is not even a competitor in his category, he is one more suffers from a problem called Tencet
