Are players misunderstanding where Scourge leagues' rewards lie?

This post almost reads like satire. And even if there are rewards deep down in the system in crangled maps that doesnt make the league a fun experience while the rest feels like a barren wasteland.
Barren wasteland when scourge adds pretty much 100% more monsters to your maps.
Do we even play the same game?

Again that proves my point completely. Leagues that you have to make "work" will never be popular. Players simply dont like that. Same was with bestiary, harvest (the league), synthesis etc. If the rewards are not upfront its getting bashed.

Im not defending this league by any means, its kinda meh. Too many and to short shifts for me. I dont care that much for rewards honestly but im not blind. Just stating the obvious. Such reward structure will never be satisfying for vast majority.

Hopefully people realize they're just making vendor items soon... I actually really like this league, but there's a small part of me that already can't wait for it to be over, haha.

+1. But the problem with upfront rewards is that they've already taken the loot fountain concept so far that it's ridiculous on some existing league mechanics by now. And so if they default to that reward mechanism again, it always gets compared to said other sources of loot fountains. Which is what led to the ever escalating loot fountain size issue to begin with, as each loot fountain league had to outdo previous ones so as to compete. Hence they're trying to move away from that type of reward system.

Barren wasteland in terms of drops. There is no point in adding more monsters that are a net negative. What you get from the league mechanic in high red maps is

-zero xp (risk of dying at lvl 90+ is just too high and will annul all progress)
-no loot (crangled 0.5 loot items and a tainted blacksmith)
-corruption juice for a low tier crangled map that takes hours to make and might have negative mods on it that insta kills you.

Watch the video of the lvl 99 guy who got charged by a random Rhoa.

That is why most streamers and reasonable players at lvl 90+ in T16 skip it. It is just not fun but looks good in marketing material.

I think your title is kinda condescending.

I really do not think people are misunderstanding the rewards. They understand them very well. I just think they disagree with you when it comes to the quality of said rewards.

Sure, it's nice while leveling. Sure, it's nice when it comes to linking. Now we're done with the first ten hours of a three month league - then what?

I often ask myself; "why should I bake this item? Will it be an upgrade? No. Can I hit something really crazy? Sure, I CAN, but it still won't be an upgrade". So we're left with baking items, hoping to hit something crazy - just to sell them?

Sure, baked maps are nice and all. But it's just another layer of juice like Delirium. The difference? Delirium had interesting drops, delirium orbs, special uniques, special encounter etc. Something to chase. Something to work towards. Scourge are seriously lacking in dropped rewards, which is kinda ironic, as "improving the quality of drops" has been on their radar for years, and now we get a league totally stripped of dropped rewards.

Based on my playstyle, the league is not giving me any real/good reasons to interact with the league mechanic - other than the reduced drop rates of 'everything' outside the league mechanics. There's no "awe" factor. There's nothng to work towards.

Well maybe they should take a serious look at fragments, scarabs, watchstones and all that other unpleasant stuff. I would rather farm 1200 voll's in dried lake again or below 2k alc and go maps for 8 doctor cards. But that would need old drop rates.
