85% max block, and attack damage is lucky if youve blocked in the last 20 seconds?

idk, sign me up.
i hope they have buffed spell block values in the passive tree :/

also, dmg from SST cut in half at lvl 20 gem ...
It's honestly impossible for me to know how this will pan out without actually seeing the new passive tree and playing around with it.

Even though spell block seems nerfed, it's obvious that every character is going to have to be redesigned from scratch, even if keeping the original design goals.

We obviously won't be getting 75/75 in the same way as before, where taking a single node made it "simple" to level spell block with attack block.

However, even though they are now completely separate things, it seems there's at least the potential for 85/75, if not even higher. And the new Tempest Shield gives an easy 25 spell block, assuming you can design around that.

It's too early to simply say that things are nerfed. It's possible it's actually a buff, given the right theorycrafting.

Things will at least be different, and I'm looking forward to seeing how to design around that difference.

Do we even know where the new keystone is?

New glad means potentially 1 passive for 50/50 block, which everyone can get, then they get lucky attack block for 75/50 block. Spell suppression can make up for the 25% less spell block, and since SS is 50% (and I think it can go higher) it might even be better then plain 75% spell block, AND gladiator gets a whole new keystone which we don't even know what it is yet.

At this point it's futile to keep this arguing going ffs

The new passive is the lucky block. We do know.

No lucky block, and versatile combatant is in a weird location. Actually in a weird location for any block build I'd want. Staff for example.

I'll wait for PoB, but initial thoughts - ugh...

You are in for a VERY LONG wait

Damn, that's a HUGE damage buff though. Ignore all mob phys dmg reduction and lucky attack dmg?
If y can get 50/50 blocks on slayer, for istance, you can still spend some points on defensive nodes keeping a crazy amount of DPS, yeah gladiator with lucky block (attack) will still have a stronger defense layer respect other ascendancy but the trade off is hardly worthy.
Gladiator is not dead, it's just severly wounded, 10 milions DPS more will always be better than a lucky block attack.

Yes, you can cap (trough evasion) spell suppression hitting 50% reduce spell damage over 75% of hits, but you can actually do it with every single class.

Gladiator doesn't have lucky block though
"""Violent Retaliation: Now has Ignore Enemy Monster Physical Damage Reduction if you've blocked in the past 20 seconds"""

"""Awakened Brutality now grants “Supported Skills have 10% chance to Crush Enemies for 4 seconds on Hit” at gem level 5""""

I have no idea how this will work, and if it will actually be useful.

This looks like some kind of Overwhelm.
But most quotes about it say that Overwhelm is almost useless.
