Some things that could be learned from D2R

You know what I have learned from release of D2R?
That Blizzard truly and really is dead, and that they try for the love of everything, to not be, even though they already know for sure they´re time of glory truly is over.

I mean I know this is the PoE forums, but c'mon. Activision Blizzard is a Multi-Billion dollar company, and by all accounts D2R was a success aside a few server hiccups.

There is no reason to think that D4 or the next WoW expansion wont be financial successes as well.

Even if you dislike what a few people did in the company, there are a tremendous amount of dedicated and talented people over there. There is no reason to fault an entire company and thousands of employees because of a few jerks.

In truth, as Chris even admitted, A few more leagues like 3.15, and then you really will see a company in trouble.

The ability to swap right click skill with a hotkey is something i would like.
It's just a pain to have 2 main skill clear and ST on 2 diff hotkeys as right click is vastly superior to anything else when you have to "aim".

I would definitely like this in addition to the current system; but certainly not instead of.
Thanks for all the fish!
Playing D2R actually showed me a lot of things that I've noticed since beta in original POE design that have since fallen to the way-by, but ultimately the biggest difference is that D2R's loot is more meaningful and the mobs tend to be more fair (stygian dolls are awful though and I remember losing my first mid 80's char on poe to a volatile tiny mob and getting flashbacks)

Player power needs to be high, dangerous attacks in an ARPG should be fair, loot needs to not be cluttered with garbage modifiers and clog up your screen. I miss PoE's in depth customization, but that's a joke now because only the most optimized builds makes sense, whereas I just pushed a melee barb to Hell with self found gear in D2R, albeit it was a slow painful process

Wonder if they knew this league was going to be a giant mistake in prep for the remake and they foolishly hope they'll get some rebounders, but there's a reason the game that's two decades old without the same content bloat still has a fully active committed playerbase and people wax and wane on PoE nonstop

GGG needs to make the difference between high end and "good enough" a whole lot closer together. The reason players aren't excited about "good enough" is that you can do so much better at the high end. It's not just a little better. It's 10x or more better. That's the problem.

If you trade, you just get those high end items much sooner.

The whole "the sky's the limit" philosophy on items needs to be dumped.

I disagree. I believe the "sky's the limit" or rather "endless ceiljng for improvement" is what has kept players addicted to this game for so long. There's always something to learn/improve.

I wonder how different people would feel about this if items dropped identified?

I enjoy the simplicity of D2R and the loot - omg, the loot is actually exciting, uniques are useful, rares don't have a billion weird mods on them, the mobs don't one shot you offscreen... it's so chill and nice to play a game like that for once.

It could use some modern QOL features and better mod support but overall I'm having fun with it still.
PoE could use some of that quality over quantity mindset, not only where it comes to loot but also content.

Yes Activision is a multi-billion dollar company. It's also still Activision...

EA is also a multi-billion dollar company. It's also still EA...

They will be financial successes, just like Fifa and NBA2K and Battlefield and Call of Duty are financial successes. And just like with those games, that's all they'll be...

That would make it a lot easier to identify good loot, your lootfilter could highlight items with affixes that your build uses.
