3.16 was GGG's biggest debacle. Giving them one more league to right the ship.

Honestly I don't give a hoot about end game pve players. They believe this game is only about that, when it really can alternate to head into any direction. They believe it should stay forever in a D2 box, when POE can expand in any direction.
Their vision is as dull as WoW dungeons were overall. Who cares about that type of player, trying to keep the game original by limiting it to a 20 year old game design. No thanks, nerds. I like the casual players, pvp players, social players, rp players, big partiers, lore scholars, unique underplayed tree builders, & advocating for balance players. Those who request for things outside of the box, while keeping it about the main game (not dishing it to a side mode or side event). Those who want each update to be more & more about player skill, even if it's only 1 inch of a update toward that further. Making player skill or build balance, slightly more important, than item progression. 100 people towns with hang out fields. Witcher taverns. Free hair style options. " It's clear you haven't looked at the data recently at all. There are now more people playing Expedition than were playing Ultimatum at the same point in the league. Yes, there was an initial falloff in response to the nerfs, that is not being debated. But it wasn't the majority of players responding to the nerfs (every league has a sharp fall off after two weeks (Harvest had a 36% drop off in the first two weeks)). What is in evidence now is that the picture isn't as one sided as you make it out to be. Expedition did succeed in retaining players better than Ultimatum did and despite the nerfs. This is a reversal of the recent trend and I hope gives some succor to GGG that they are on right path. |

" What should be clear is again your logic is flawed. Examining the floor in terms of players near the end of the league, and extrapolating that compared to early parts is ridiculous. So a maybe few more thousand are playing right now? Sure what about the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS that totally abandoned the league early? I mean what are you even suggesting? That this league is better than Ultimatum because with three and change weeks to go more are playing? Awful analysis. I think that we should take the cues from the Lead Dev. League was a disaster. They know it. Let's see what happens in 3.16 "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

So much non-math and non-logic here, lets just actually look at the data. It speaks for itself.
Peak way down, initial huge drop compared to previous leagues. 2 months in we are at 18k from 116k. 15% remaining 2 months into last league, 28k down from 155k. 18% remaining 2 months into league before that, 44k from 157k, 28% remaining. 2 months into league before that, 38k left from 122k, 31% remaining. (not shown on picture, but its all right here: https://steamcharts.com/app/238960#All There is nothing here to debate, those are simply the numbers, plain and simple. Argue all you want, the data does not change. ![]() Last edited by trixxar#2360 on Sep 27, 2021, 4:18:16 PM

" Well, there's a reason why they were doing damage control Q&As and talking about 3.16 2 weeks into 3.15... this league was just pathetic in every way. from the league mechanic to the artificial difficult increase, the stupid flask change, they're were just asking for people to quit. The good thing about quitting this league early was to play other games I was eager to try out. |

" It's clear you are deliberately obviating (or did not see) that the league Ultimatum was a bad league, just had lots of players like 3.13 because 3.13 was good and people still had hope until they tried the league and saw the stuff, then the 3.15 announcements comes saying that will be even worse than 3.14, the result was many people who returned on late weeks league decided not return between 3.14 and 3.15. 3.15 was not just having bad numbers because itself, 3.14 also dragged problems. If 3.16 continue dragging problems from 3.14 and 3.15 then is obvious what will happen, if there is more people now on 3.15 than 3.14 is because some people have hope that GGG do something to fix their game next patch. I dont care anymore people rolling around if "minority/majority" stuff, is just nonsense, numbers are there, the graphic is clear, GGG know how to make big numbers and know how to make low numbers, is their decision, if they do a game that you enjoy and you can play then hey! good luck and congratulations, for people like me then just wait and lets see if other game fits more for us. This is just a game after all. Full Harvest is besto waifu, give me 3.11 and/or 3.13 and take my money.

" I didn't play Ultimatum at all. I use it as a comparison because it's the closest league. I use Harvest because it's the most seasonally appropriate league. There is plenty of noise in the data, so making these comparisons is important. I came back to play because of the nerfs. The game was boring before. I'm mildly irritated they rolled back the nerfs they did. We would have found a way to play and it would have been fun doing so. Instead players who hate any challenge threw their toys out of the pram. I understand that many aspects of the game are boring to ye because you've repeated yourselves so many times, but I don't think the answer is to ruin the game to keep bored players around deep into their diminished returns from the game. And bottom line is whilst the numbers at the start of league are down (way down), the numbers at the end of the league are up. Not enough, but the picture is more nuanced than several bad actors are presenting them as. |

3.16 isnt out yet

" I mean, honest questions 1) - The game was 'too easy' for you, but your top character across any league only has a 5 link chest, dont appear to have beaten any hard content, but the game was too easy? Can you explain? It appears to an outside observer you dont tackle the hard parts of the game, but then want it to be harder for everyone. 2) - The numbers are up? What numbers? What exact player count and what is your source? The actual data posted above you disagrees with your analysis. Feel free to counter with, you know, data. |

" Player retention means diddly squat if people are spending as well. Since those two cancel each other out, it suffices to say that player retention means diddly squat. |
