I don't care about the xp loss. at all... not since I realised the point of the game isn't to reach level cap. Dying to random shit annoys me though, removing death penalties wouldn't make a difference to my experience. failure is it's own punishment (personally speaking that is, I don't understand hardcore mentality at all, maybe its a gambling thing).
saying that though, half of my deaths are from things I can't identify, so no lessons are learned and I will continue to die from, and be annoyed by, those things, whatever they are. Death needs to be a lesson to be meaningful, attaching negative consequence alone doesn't make it meaningful. Dying isn't the problem, xp loss isn't the problem (unless what you're looking for is a consequence free game, which this will never be). |

" It will most likely be one of these: :-p - You rushing into too many mobs - You not reading the rare mob descriptions before attacking it - You standing still - You standing too close to porcupines - You not noticing a known dangerous mob - You ignoring a telegraphed boss attack - You now knowing a boss mechanic |

" He's talking about 'random shit'. You see, in a proper videogame your screen isn't cluttered with garbage and offers a fair amount of visibility. They also don't have buffed up the ass archers that kill you offscreen. Everything is straight up deceptive bullcrap in this game. People are asking about a death log for good reason, they can't even figure out how they died, let alone trying to prevent it from happening the second time. |

He's absolutely justified to be irritated and frustrated by the death penalty it is a very common reaction. It is also a common reaction for people to quit playing PoE because of it. I have multiple friends that have quit PoE because of it. That is why I think it would be best for GGG to modify the death penalty to something else.
On the other hand, I know GGG loves the level 100 chase goal and will probably never change the death penalty. The best way to deal with the death penalty is to stop caring about it. It can be hard. It irritates me when I die close to leveling up once I reach level 92 or 93. Prior to that making up the 10% penalty is pretty trivial. But that is the only time it ever really matters as long as you give up on the idea of ever getting above level 94 or so. Those last few passive skill points shouldn't really make that much difference. Or at least that is the philosophy that I use to deal with the penalty myself. Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

" well, yes all these things have contributed to me dying to a greater or lesser degree, but if i can point to the source of my death its fine. Standing still doesn't count as a cause of death, any more than not having enough life is a cause of death. |
