new players dont all want babymode, new players are not the ones who have got used to babymode and now cant get their head around actually having to try a little. they are coming to the game fresh and most of them are going to find a game that presents a bit of a challenge and given this is a deeply complex arpg most of them came here expecting that and are up for it.
mate, How many "new" players did you speak to? my hardcore gamer mate that i play dota 2 with, did tried the game for 2 hours and thought it was slow and boring AF and never played again. How many new players do you think are still playing this dead season?
The fact you are writing essays on the forums is evidence that GGG has made poor design decisions that hardcore fans like you are spending more times on the forums than in the actual game.
the fact that i was a new player, and everyone i know was a new player at some point, and we were all new players when the game was slower and harder than it is today and we loved it and we are still here says everything. everyone here to who joined more than 2 years ago was a new player when the game was slower and harder than it is now and we are here playing it because we enjoyed the game.
the game is obviously not for your friend, its the fastest arpg ever made essentially, if its too slow for him hes not an arpg guy. the game isnt for everyone, theres a reason its poe and not angry birds, theyre not looking to make the most popular game ever. they are looking to make the best arpg ever, that has an audience and any arpg fan knows the game starts slow and gets fast. feel free to go play call of duty or dota or hearthstone if you dont like arpgs, this is not for you.
well said, i actually find myself posting on the forums more than ever than actually playing the game, I am in fact finding it more fun reading your poor excuse to support bad game design. So I too will stop playing this garbage hopefully the few streamers GGG seems to massively favour over everyone else buys enough support packs to pay their bills, cos i absolutely wont spend a penny anymore.

... *facepalm* jesus christ lol... Your opinion is wrong. Catering to MMO players? MMORPGs are NOT ARPGs. If you want boring gameplay, then go play an MMO? This is not the place.
This highlights one of the main points of discussion recently, but from a different perspective.
One of the main arguments recently against 3.15 is that players were lost, and therefore must have been a mistake. The underlying argument being more players makes for a better game, no matter the sacrifice.
If GGG were to try to bring in more players from more genres, and make a Frankenstein's monster of a game that caters to more and more players, is it a better game? They very easily could diverge from their plans for POE and add MMORPG elements to the game to attract the MMO player base that is searching for their next fix.
They've already half-heartedly delved into the battle royale genre, but fortunately that has no impact on the actual game. They could offer a first person point of view to try to attract some FPS type of players (yes, this is sarcasm).
My point being more players does not make for a better game necessarily. They need to find a way to cater to a core audience without deviating too far from what they are good at. They should stick to the Hedgehog Concept, rather than somehow fall victim to the fallacy that more players is always a good thing no matter the deviation.
For those that have not read Good to Great and don't get the Hedgehog Concept, here you go:

" The new player experience "
I've retired from WoW classic & Planetside 2. I only started POE 1 month ago. So I have the new players perspective. Yet no matter what the new player opinion is, people may want different things.
Or at least I want different things. This game certainly doesn't need to make the game easier to understand in anyway possible. It needs depth, plus additions, & expansion.
If anything these streamers like Asmongold, Lazy Peon, or Preach should be showing, is that MMO players are looking at this game & weighing it out. Including myself. So it needs a whole new project team, devoted to catering to MMO players, in my honest opinion.
Taking a long break from playing Planetside 2; which has updates too, doesn't get sponsored by big streamers, nor has a international audience. Yet PS2 still dishes out the same level or amount of updates, at least recently. So GGG, having a bigger potential for an audience, should step it up.
Tho I don't find " updating the new player experience " to be much of a use for anyone who's played more than 6 days.. nor do I find hour long podcasts only talking about leagues to be interesting enough on its own. I'd say the biggest thing POE needs rightnow, is not more endgame single player stuff. Literally anything else at all would be better, any other social out of the box multiplayer themes.
No, I don't want my beloved game to be changed because someone needs to catter for migrating crowd. One month your are here, other month you are somewhere else.
GGG should focus on what it is and what made it successful, but not what some FOTM crowd wants.

So that leaves you, basic pve guy, who didn't even play Baldur's Gate, yet wants this game to be modeled off it. No Thanks.
I play all of those genres as well, including ACTUAL MMORPGs. So that leaves you, [Removed by Support] who assumes a lot and then comes to the forums, makes a bunch of different threads complaining about a game he knows nothing about as well.

anyway i dont think they care about regular new players just streamers and no lifers, they are the target audience for GGG
so true, its almost like GGG is trying to compete with streamers with the size of their egos
First, I want to clarify I dont have ANYTHING personal against ANY poe content creator, its their job, they have families to feed, I understand, everything is cool on this side.
BUT
the current GGG's attitude to streamer's is disguisting... Their idea is like that EVERYTHING could be fixed with enough content pushed via streamers. Majority is unsatisfied - hire streamers to print videos that everything is not that bad. New league start - hire 100500 streamers to push it. Retention is terrible - hire even moar streamers!People are mad cause of bad RNG - let another streamer to 6link another astral plate in few fuses!
But the point is, you simply can't fix EVERYTHING with PR stuff. We dont want another multihours talks, we want REAL actions. Good patchnotes, new QOL stuff, decent balance, fun game that respects out time played...
Why is developing toward what streamers want (if it were even true, not that anyone has proven that oft-repeated claim) be bad? It seems like every player tries as hard as they can to play streamers builds and do the content they do. That means designing for streamers is designing for non-streamer players.

Maybe the reason people play "streamer builds" is cos GGG killed all the other builds and only 4 "streamer builds" are viable? its basically the same logic blizzard has with the store: "if people dont like store mounts why do they keep buying it?". The answer is there are no alternatives to getting what players want.

I heard Burning Arrow Elementalist isn’t viable this league. Guess I didn’t get the memo.
