So apparently we've reached the point where people are sending death threats...

I'm disinclined to believe any of these claims. Anyone who's been on the internet longer than the past 5 years has experienced "death threats" in one way or another. How many of these actually lead to an actual incident of harm or injury? I'd say fractions of a percent.

This all smells like someone trying to hide from criticism by claiming "somebody threatened death to me". It's a very different situation if it's somebody you can physically see with your eyes and hear their voice with your ears. That's a situation where you take each and every one seriously because you're actually present.

But the internet? If they're not doxxing you, just move on. And if you're getting doxxed, then you messed up in sharing personal information.

I don't believe any of these claims of legitimate death threats.
It's similar to bomb threats, you can't be certain one way or the other and regardless of whether there is an actual bomb or not, the psychological threat is genuine. The individual making the threat is causing a psychological injury.

It is a despicable act and should never be diminished as just 'lads being lads'.

It is unacceptable behaviour.
Sadly, while I don't agree such behavior should be normalized by any sense. This is a normal reaction in society today. Don't like something --> Resort to violence or the threat of. Nobody knows how to be civil anymore, this is even true in the real world not just the internet. It's pathetic, and as a society we need to grow to be better.

The difference being bomb threats specify a location, a method of destruction, and a real potential threat to people. People do not tear up an entire city over a "bomb threat" that has no target, that only happens in movies.

If you face a "psychological threat" from someone who may or may not be halfway across the world then you may not be of suitable psychological conditioning to be occupying the public eye as you do.

Again, it's words on a screen. Much different from a person within shouting distance saying such things to you. Or somebody calling your personal landline phone to your house saying that.

Either you're incredibly young to not have been present in the days when everyone on the internet spoke to somebody else in that manner or you're just a little too weak-willed to see past it.

I'm not going to buy into that rhetoric. As mathil said regarding the harvest nerfs "you knew what this game was when you played it." You know the risks of being in the public eye.

And, frankly, the actual risk of "death threats" being taken to any material damage is again fractions of a percent.
While this kind of behavior is surely not nice at all, people somehow tend to overreact quite a bit; if i would have taken all these internet threats written by some immature individuals (who most likely can't hurt a fly firsthand, hehe) i got over the years siriously, i would have ended up in the loony bin in no time.

Don't send death threats please. It's awful, stupid, and can intimidate people.

Majority of people don't seem to understand that most of these type of death threats comes from trolls and general internet bullies.
There's rarely any genuinity to internet death threats. It's just the way it is.

Not defending them. This type of behaviour is disgusting.
But I'm surprised people are so shocked that people are trolling on the internet behind the mask of anonymity. This has been a problem for most public figures across all platforms in the world. It's just attention seekers and the best thing we can really do is ignore them and not give them what they want.

I'm not personally shocked by it. Just annoyed at the state of things, where we just push death threats aside as just business as usual.

I have no doubt the majority of people who do it are just Eric Cartman's sitting in their mom's basement screaming for a bed pan. Still not okay. Though I assume the state of their life is likely punishment enough, I still hope they get caught.

Raiz himself put it in a tweet longer with 'insults'. Like, if he really felt threatened do you think he'd bother mentioning the insults? They kind of are business as usual once you get popular enough (from what I can judge). Understandably that's going to make 'normies' like us feel different emotions, you went with annoyed in this post.

Us talking about it here doesn't change a thing. Hey trolls! Stop trolling! Hey criminals! You're bad if you commit crimes! You can't beg, shame, or otherwise talk people out of this behavior.
Hi. Its been awhile. I just want to say god loves you all.
