People are brain dead if they are unfamiliar with F2P means. Also as i said. CoD has season so that people are usually buy it anyway. While Fortnite, due to peer pressure, kid are way more crazy to buy cosmetic so that the amount spent in that game, may way more than guy whining POE is not free.

Can you do ALL game's content without spending money on the game? Yes. Does buying more stash tabs help? Yes.

To be honest, i do agree that you need at least a currency, premium and map tab for end game or the game easily become a nightmare.

So, whats not free to play in poe?
Do premium stash tabs ease your trading? hell yes.
Did a lot of people you are discussing with here play before premium tabs were a thing? hell yes.
Sure, i would say the game is more enjoyable if you spend a bit (though its really not a big amount if you buy a few stash tabs you are fine really), that does not mean though that it is not free to play and that you cant play it without buying.
If you value your money more than the inconvinience of not having more tabs more power to you.
If you have no money whatsoever im sorry but maybe you got more pressing problems in your life than computer games?
Its not like its everyone right to play (as sad as that is) and computer games are a luxury product.

Also, warframe is absolutely free. But if you want all the prime gear without paying, beware of your health such as liver failure due to grinding 24x7 all year (the season has rewards which does not need you to buy pass, however prime gear need to be grind from free drop loot box)


I really don't mind POE introduce season pass with free path. But i guess people will whining again for gating the stash tab reward at character level 90 or season rank or 36/40 or whatever goal it is

It is F2P but it's P2W. Stash tabs is one of them but i have problems with "3rd party" sites selling currency with real money. GGG can easily end it but i guess they get their shares otherwise those sites woudn't exist.

Like they get their shares from streamers when they stream the game and can use and advertise toolbars/overlays etc... while a normal user might get a perma ban for using the same thing.

And i have to refresh my memory on other F2P game

Let see, Dirty Bomb, grind in-game currency to unlock character. Blizzard's MOBA also the same behaviour


I also not mind GGG gated POE2 19 new character classes with in-game shop currency gate and P2W to unlock it, or grind in-game shop currency as a no lifer

POE WAS f2p but it ISNT now
why? before without some stashtabs u just CANT participate in all poe activities. there are just far too many cards, fragments, currency, fossils, essences etc etc etc etc etc etc. after 1000000 expansions added to a core its just impossible to do everything just with base stashes

Ailatwplayer used to be a racer that have only 4 stashes

And? He raced to 100 and quit and a RF build that needs almost no gear, without killing any hard bosses. He even skipped merc lab often.

If that is the only purpose you have in mind. Then sure 4 tabs are more than enough.

Okay, here is how I see it:

Is the game free to play? Yes. Because you don't need to pay anything to be able to play path of exile. That's a non-negotiable fact.

Not acknowledging the immense quality of live of stashtabs is ignorant though, so let's check which one we actually need, shall we?

Obviously the currency stashtab, 75 points
Map stashtab, 150 points
And there can be made an argument for fragments, 75 points.
And a 15 point upgrade of a normal tab to a premium one
So we are looking at 315 points, equalling something like 30$ round about.

That means, compared to a typical pay to play title, you can test the game completely free for as long as you possibly want, while still paying probably less in total when you decide to actually invest in the game.

I personally think that's a good deal.

All other stashtabs are not mandatory, if you're strict with your filters.

- div cards?: just collect the ones worth something
- essences? Just take t1 t2 essences
- fossils? Only needed if you're hard on delving
- uniques? Not needed at all
- blight, metamorph, deli? Not needed at all

Yeah, some of them are upgrades to my game experience, but firstly I am sure if you want u could work around them reasonably well, and secondly, my game experience doesn't apply to everyone. Overall the really needed stuff here is still cheaper than other games while be able to test it for free
