" Is all the content available at no charge? Yes Is a big part of QoL gated behind pay? Also yes. Their POV is sound business wise, if you just casually POE you'll never have to pay stuff, but if you get invested you'll have a very bad time unless you pay. So POE is free to play, but once you get invested in the game, you better inve$t in the game know what I'm saying? Second-class poe gamer

They could just make the game buy to play, with the initial $50 giving you access to all current and future special tabs and a number of premium tabs, say 10.
That would make it a AAA priced game with all the QoL aspects from the shop in one pack. Problem is, you'd alienate players you can't afford to pay from ever having a chance to enjoy it. Also, some people don't mind having to mule over items all the time. You wouldn't believe the amount of trouble I went through in D2 to save gold and items from my main that I had no way to store anywhere. It was tedious and risky, yet, I did it. I'm glad I don't have to in POE, times change and all, but F2P gives people the choice. So in short, if you're one of those players that values QoL highly, then to you POE is not F2P, much like RuneScape is not F2P to most people. Technically though, both games are and in my opinion, that is still the best way to approach it. Don't take options away from players. Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done. Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more. 'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league. Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave. Micromanaging the inventory and playing this game on long term with only 4 stash tabs is like stabbing yourself with a katana ... Anyone who say otherwise is not being honest. " i never said it would be enjoable at all, but people have done it, it is not needed is what i am saying, i have spend roughly 120$ according to steam on poe and i dont miss a single cent from it as i have gotten more out of poe than any other tripple A these days lately, just look a blizzard haveing to pay 13bucks a month, haveing a optional yet mandatory service shop (playing on dead server dosnt mean you get a free transfer just as example) aswell as a cashshop for mounts and cosmetics plus the initial cost of even playing the game (for retail that is, atleast antoher 40bucks each! expansion) also look at cyperpunk, the most recent hyped game that comes to my mind, full price half game, maybe 40h of gameplay if you go full in. im basicly just sick seeing people talkin shit about poe when in reality it is getting more and more popular but newer players seeing these shit posts eventually and start to leave wich is not uncommon |
