Banned for fake listings, abusing the trade site?

Instant trade feature. You list an item, you sell the item and that's it. No need to be online either.

If you are in game it would also negate the need for the abrupt halt in a session, having to return to town.

No auction house or other policing needed.

However GGG would argue the end of the world if players got this, because progression would be achieved too quickly.

In my thirty years of gaming, I've never experienced this to be or become an issue in this genre, to the contrary, I've enjoyed loot dropping in a loot game and the efficiency that came with easy trading allowing for me to concentrate on grinding for more loot.

Not wasting time chasing crafting materials or items before I can move forward with my initial intent, playing the game.

One doesn't have to negate or exclude another. Put a tick box option for tabs, that indicates these are instant trade tabs.

How do you personally define "auction house" such that what you just defined isn't an auction house? Reading these 3 sentences, with the definition of "auction house" in my head, sounded like you just said "Just implement an auction house. No auction house needed."

Can you share some examples of such games?

in my opinion the only way to get rid of price fixing and fake listings is a auctionhouse
there certainly are things that they could do to counter price fixers, which are extremely annoying on the console trade market because they designed it specifically to benefit price fixing. But they just won't do it.

I don't think it would be that hard to make the market more honest. Obviously instant buy on console would benefit honest players over price fixers but ok, they said they don't want that. So how about being able to identify who the seller is and allow honest players to block price fixers from being able to see the hundreds of the same item with the same price they listed that they will never sell. That would help a lot, it's really annoying trying to figure out which one of the hundreds listed is actually a legit price and for sale. That doesn't seem so hard or unreasonable to me.

Not just GGG, but every single player who understands what it would do to the game.

Progression is easy.
Trading is easy.

Both take time but that's the point.
Way too much a grey area and impossible to know if someone is legit or not. You can hide accounts already, thats enough.

If I were a betting man, I'd say the chances of being able to prove to the point of banning that someone was doing fake listings is approximately 0%.

"But I was only putting it up for what I thought was fair! I just happened to not be available to actually trade it. For 1680 hours." -- player disputing a hypothetical GGG ban in this case

or perhaps nobody else wanted that item for the listed price and sent a whisper for those 1680 hours or whatever

theres literally no way to enforce that. if somebody is afk, or doesnt want to portal back to their hideout to sell you THEIR item, tough shit. find another one. if people could be banned for not jumping at every whisper, than people would just abuse the hell out of that, and there would be no community. at least not for trading. i dont know about you guys, but i wouldnt list any items if im going to get banned just for stepping outside and having a smoke or for whatever other reason i cant respond to the trade. thats just foolish. i'm sure most people wouldnt either.

of course an auction house or virtual storefront could solve this, but it would also bring forth even more issues to deal with.

also alot of time people are in standard and the item someone whispers them for is for league. or vice versa. and with so much shit going on in the game, it might not be worth dropping everything youre doing to switch characters just to fulfill some trade. especially if its a low value item. i mean shit, this year ive played exclusively in standard and i still get a lot of whispers from people in league who havent changed their search fiilters. i can't even fulfill a trade with them if i wanted to, unless they have a char in standard and want to use that item there. so what are they going to narc me out or something if i dont get back to them within 10 seconds of them sending me a whisper, or what?

i'd rather just deal with it the way it is. if someone doesnt want to sell something, find another, or wait a bit and try again later. just because you see an item listed by somebody else does not mean that its yours, so theres no point of huffing and puffing if the person isnt able to fulfill the trade, or for whatever reason simply doesnt want to.

Tbh now that i'm thinking about it they could just pinch the confidence rating off poe ninja, if listings were flagged as low confidence it could be scripted but without ruining anything when it gets it wrong.

Its a little bit in the educate players column but still they won't do anything because they don't :p
this whole trade system sucks.. they know it... they dont care.. like they dont care about doing anything to change the click injuries popping up.

They actually DO care. You just don´t like their stance on it.
