Banned for fake listings, abusing the trade site?
This topic has been brought up numerous times, but not many arguments were made for or against it, mostly just people demanding that fake listings and price fixing be bannable.
What do you think, should players who abuse the trade system to make fake listings, price fix or listings just to troll be banned from trade ? I personally think there should be a system to prevent spam listings and things like taking listings down that get whisper clicks but no sales. For one it creates data-garabge and avoidable traffic to the trade site, increases server load and player frustration and needs to be adressed. Edit: I'm by no means for trade bans, but maybe a system in which we can filter by the amount of whisper clicks a listing has, anything so we can instantly know fake listings and not waste time. What do you think ? Very cool mirror Service: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3227915 Last edited by impulze3#1573 on Jul 9, 2021, 6:41:15 PM Last bumped on Jul 15, 2021, 11:28:57 AM

I think asking that to be bannable is ridiculous. The trade side is an option to offer stuff. It is by no means enforceable that people HAVE to sell their stuff, it is still their digital currency that you have no agency over.
Sometimes I have stuff listed but am busy mapping, so I only sell it when i'm in my hideout for a longer period. Sometimes I don't want to sell to certain indivisuals cause they spam me 5 times. Asking not selling to be bannable sounds like frustrated people that can't make enougz currency to purchase just the next best but slightly more expensive option. |

If I were a betting man, I'd say the chances of being able to prove to the point of banning that someone was doing fake listings is approximately 0%.

That is absolutely not enforceable. The game has too many instances where you are unavailable to trade, or even time to stop and respond. Just this league alone I was accused of price fixing three times because I didn't respond fast enough. I had one person ignore me after 10 seconds.
I honestly think the amount of false positives/reportings would be through the roof with such a rule. Nope. Thanks for all the fish! Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Jul 9, 2021, 6:36:52 PM

" I think third league that has increased droprates but no trading would be better. Problem of SSF is that you will be killing sirus in your tabula rasa(which is easy) but after killing him u can uninstall because character progression does not exist for SSF. In over 10 years i've found upgrade for myself only when leveling. I was there even in beta test. This is best rare thing i found ever, it is from last act while leveling few years ago. Back when harvest was good, it was fine to go without trading and yet still seeing progress and it was pure perfection. I understand that some of you just want to do challenges or beat last act boss, or level to 70 and quit. But I like min-maxing and game without trading is more min-min than min-maxing. Now If league had 1 years, 2 years, 3 years, i can see myself min-maxing in ssf. But when it has 3months and 1 month is unplayable which leaves us with 2 months, at current loot quality and droprates that makes no sense for me. I feel pretty, Oh, so pretty,
I feel pretty, and witty and gay, And I pity Any girl who isn’t me today! | |
TFT has browser addons that links with their discord and the POE trade site to flag Scammers.
It wont get them all, but you can see people who attempted scams and reported / confirmed on TFT discord. Of course.. this only works when buying. Have to be extra careful when selling. Last edited by SPYDER680#3552 on Jul 9, 2021, 10:07:11 PM

It'd be super easy to abuse this if you could get someone banned for not completing a trade.
Say you (and several friends) msg'd me for a kingmaker and put 10c in the window. If I close the trade and block you, you and your friends could run and tattle on me and get me banned bc I didn't accept your ridiculous joke amounts. No thanks. " Well, i very rarely use tabula there unless leveling some "twink" character, maybe i'm just allergic to farming aqueducts, hehe. Usyally just paying attention to these "+2 sockets" boxes in act 3-4 yield you some 6-socket body with some stats, which can be at least 5-linked. Say this dropped a couple leagues ago in act 4 and somehow linked with these 10-15 fuses i had there by that time: And progression surely does exist there too, it just requires more trash digging in general. Say last league i accidentally found very decent ilvl73 es boots in that chaos recipe dump tab i filled while barely getting into white maps - t2 es, 30% speed, 2*resists and an open suffix and it actually was an upgrade "out of the box". To be honest, red map drops feel way more shitty, maybe due to a wider mod pool; also it may be subjective, but delve dropped rares tend to be generally better rolled to my experience. Umm, and if you're stubborn/nolife enough, you can obtain trade-league-level gear there even without old harvest - double influenced shit with the right mods, sometimes even these godly double corrupts. Price fixing is something, ignoring trades is another thing but honestly, there is surely currency to be made livesearching. In 3.13 i sniped a seriously big item for only 35, it should have been a 300ex+ item otherwise. Same thing, I sold a pair of GG but 4 prefix Syrius gloves at 50ish ex at a point, it was worth more but I wanted that right now and somebody was livesearching it. Should livesearch be banned as it gives a trading advantage when you know what to aim for? Don't think so either. Life is unfair, PoE trade meta is less unfair than life.

if the accuracy was good they should be, but a script is the only manner they'd use to police this and they are notoriously sloppy when it comes to banning actions.
Really fake listings is exploiting a vulnerability in the trade system design, primarily in this case that no sales are enforced, solutions are limited. Fill the hole (basically auction house or at least consignment merchant) Police it Educate players about the trappings of trade Do nothing :p |
