3.14 Retention Rates

Steam players are quitters who play different games, while standalone players are the core audience.

Is that so ? You seem to know more than everyone else.

Only talking about myself: played PoE many years ago (it was possible to win stashes back then iirc), no steam-account.

Then I´ve played Risen 2, needed steam for that, also Skyrim, decided to play PoE again unaware of performance problems, changed back to standalone client some weeks ago.

I GUESS many players just use steam without thinking too much about it.
So those numbers are the best we can talk about, unless we get some for the standalone client.

And even if standalone client users were the "core audience" what would it mean ? Only they count ? There are other reasons for people to play this 24/7 than because the league is so good I would SUGGEST.

I would EXPECT similar graphs for the standalone client.

obey - consume - marry and reproduce - submit - watch t.v. - trust the internet - conform - do not question authority - sleep - buy - do not think - die

Oh great another thread complaining about harvest nerfs and nerfs in general.

Get good.

So you think the numbers are so low because of that ?

Could be good reasons, or the bad league mechanic especially compared to ritual.

Or something else - summer/more people vaccinated, spending time outside more valuable than before Covid, who knows ?

But if that´s your guess...

its over no good harvest or explode cya in d4
To everything posted before i'll just add that according to poe.ninja, first melee skill is at 30th place. That's excluding Cyclone which is mainly not used as melee skill but CoC or CwC.

That's really shame that GGG let melee, to be more precise strike melee, rot like that.

Harvest made viable "crutches" as some would call them, but still nonetheless affordable ones to make the archetype more appealing. Since that's gone, no one bothers anymore.

Now everything is a spell or some upside-down build making, and every single one of those bores me to hell.

In 3.14 they introduced spells only. Exsanguinate looks nice but it's halfbaked for PoE atm.

There are no new ideas. Skills are so bland, that half of strikes look like default attack. Skill effects are decade old, numbers and mechanics neglected, so no wonder Blade Flurry is at 30th place with 1% partaking.
Shame...

Retention would be better if boss fights gave something worth fighting for, not everyone has unlimited time to play this game. The rewards for this league are as bad as the drops from Sirus. So you can spend a ton of time getting to sirus getting nothing from the league mechanic on your way to Sirus, then get nothing from him. If you are lucky you won't die from league mechanic that is so cluttered you have no idea what is going to kill you. Then maybe you can beat Sirus and get nothing from him. This is coming from someone who plays this game WAYYYY too much. Inscribed Ultimatum drop rate is terrible, Taskmaster spawn is terrible. it's like this league could have been great with proper drops/spawns. but instead all the streamers are already playing other games. And now everyone watching those streamers are d/ling those games.

I didn't even make it to maps before I jetted.
Sirus doesn't drop nothing on the contrary he has one of the best loot tables, you can't conflate drop quality with sale value - Sirus gets killed thousands of times a league his common drop is always going to be next to worthless even on HC.

but basically everything on his table is good or better he's one of the few bosses without dead drops blocking up his loot table.

Agree with your point though just not pertaining to Sirus lol

But taking into consideration that LE does not have leagues yet and PoE lowest concurrent players are around 11-12k in the last month, the difference maybe not be so extreme if EHG makes their leagues interesting.

From what I read they don't intend to do proper 'leagues' but rather periodic updates 'when they're ready' that will ship during off-season of other titles that they deem themselves in competition with from a player-base standpoint. This may be a distinction without a difference but they seemed to want to shy away from the idea that they are going to do exactly X leagues per calendar year.

It's no secret EHG plans on doing leagues similar like PoE with the usual economy restarts and new content + balancing.

Here a Dev Q&A where people can convince themself.

The only missing link is how often per year. Anything between 2-4 could be possible. But this mini-conversation already derails from this thread.

And again, even with low playernumbers in the last month it is still way higher than the constant peak numbers of any other H&S/aRPG.
