Remove the stupid idea of losing xp in standard on death

I've been stuck at lv 85 for the longest time now wondering why every time I looked at my xp bar it always reset itself upon logging in only to find out after an annoyed google search that you lose 10% of your xp every time you die. That's the most ridiculously pointless and frustrating idea anyone could have come up with. It's STANDARD. Not hardcore, Not ultimatum. It's supposed to be a casual difficulty. So why is it required to "Git Gud" or be a pro player while trying to take part in the post epilogue difficult maps where monsters one shot you even with max resistance? I've already purchased loads of cosmetics and poured a lot of time into the game because I like it but this setback is so off-putting I'm considering quitting because it's literally impossible to progress because of one horribly stupid idea.

That is because your build, or your skill at playing, doesn't warrant you advance any further.

If there were no death penalty on Standard, people would use widely different builds than in the league (glass cannons mostly), meaning that GGG would have to spend enormous amount of resources in balancing the two differently. They'd have to... and it is an expense that would not in any way be paid back with larger income.

So... Not going to happen!
No... Honestly, reaching level 100 should remain a accomplishment.

I'm going to be blunt my dude. Your passive tree and gear are insanely bad.

What is your topaz ring? It's got some res on it and absolutely nothing else.

You can buy 100% total res rings with life for like 5c at this point in the league. Why haven't you?

All of your rares lack T1 life, and in some cases just no life at all.

You're using 3 uniques, only 1 gives life. We can forgive the weapon, but skin of the loyal maybe wouldn't be a problem if your other items had high ES and life for a more hybrid style approach.

Not sure why you're not using a quicksilver over Overflowing chalice, but a big way to avoid dying is simply to not let the monsters hit you. You're a slow moving turd.

Your passive tree is an absolute mess.

If you want to play ED/Cont Trickster... arguably one of the most popular builds in the game just look up a guide my man.

I was curious and imported your character.

You have an EHP (effective health pool) of 8,472 vs physical damage, 6,354 vs chaos damage, and only 27,533 vs elemental damage.

You can only sustain a single hit of 3,931. Your character is legit paper and its a wonder you even made it to level 85.

*edit*

I just noticed you're on standard and some how still using absolutely trash rares. I really have no idea what you're doing but all of your problems are because you're bad at the game or very inexperienced.

Maybe too harsh roasting, but very accurate and solid advice here.

No one care this accomplishment in Standard. So just remove death penalty in standard.

Gears are not the point.

Even if he had super good gears, he's still probably stuck in lv. 95, 96.

Nope, that roasting applies to you. The other guy is new, and have a excuse for not hitting 100 yet.

Yes, I know my gear isn't great. I'm still extremely new at the game (First time ever playing it) and I'm trying to learn how things work and figure it all out but there's so much technicalities to it that it's overwhelming. Hence my statement about why is playing this game's content require you to "Git Gug" or be a pro player to progress at all.

I'm following a guide but the gear required is either not on the market or ridiculously expensive for what I can afford.

I don't play games to try hard all the time, this is just insult to injury in my opinion. I'm already bad at the game, I know, but to then prevent progress because of it is just rude. And the game does a terrible job to describing itself or how many aspects work, so you either have to go and learn about it yourself from other people's videos/Posts or you'll never figure how different sections of the game work.

Can relate, however removing mechanics isnt the solution.

Instead head over to game & help section and ask for advice how to improve your build and progress further.
This will help you to understand a little more and also allow you to progress without having to change the game at all.

People over there are pretty competent and will help you out, no doubt.
They might also roast you a bit but thats part of learning the game ;)
