how do you like 3.14 melee/attack nerf?

so, if you are unaware, something is going on with how weapons roll now:



the flat phys is no longer 'local', it is treated like 'skill based added phys' and thus does not benefit from local %phys roll

for a 1.5 aspd, 150%phys, 20-30 flat, 40-70 base:

old:
(55avg base phys + 25 avg local)*%phys*aspd
--
300pdps


new:
((55avg base)*%phys + 25avg local)*aspd
--
245pdps

the more flat added you have, the less important the local roll becomes. checking my - rather modest ~1ex range gear - it is 25% nerf accross the board.
for attack build (mostly melee, lets get real) that are already garbage compared to spells


i know we do not know everything yet, yada yada patch notes. but.. something smells here. and it is not a scent of a rose. couple that with bench craft nerf (all crafts went one tier down, top crafted attack speed now is ~16% on a melee weapon), no harvest and in general garbage baseline uniques.. who is going to play attack builds next league when already weak stuff gets a 25% nerf?

Wow, from the screenshot the added phys really doesnt seem to apply locally anymore.

Holy shit if this nerf is for real for melee there will be zero reason to play melee attack builds anymore.

League already smells like Blade Vortex/Agnostic/MoM/Petrified Blood spell meta.
Its one way to put the final nail in the casket for melee attacks.
Plot twist: that's the second lowest tier added damage roll and it goes as high as elemental ones.

I don't think this necessarily has to change anything, a local added damage roll with +200% damage is pretty much the same thing as a three times higher global one. And if they're really tripled, it means that if you roll high added damage it will be less essential to also roll a very high percentage to get a usable weapon and this might even be a good thing, especially for levelling.

So, lowering the number of mods that interact with each other isn't a bad idea on paper, but it all comes down to where the numbers are, my money is on "in the wrong place" but that can be adjusted later.
Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

most likely

they add one thing that is 'questionable' and change entire world around them to 'fix that' (breaking everything else in the process)


and i highly doubt it is the 'worst roll possible' mainly because you have to have rolls for leveling as well. if they account for that, that means we have YET ANOTHER bunch of mods added to the 'roll phys weapons' pool.

we are closely approaching the point when you earn Badge of Stubbornness for picking an attack based build and you get one with Gold Leaves if you go phys based attack build given how f.. insanely hard these weapons are to roll (EVEN with harvest)

meanwhile i leveled a caster from 1 to 89 with two lvl3 +1 wands. seriously GGG, get a grip, it is idiotic situation and you are making it even WORSE?

if you go with this route at least make elemental rolls blocked once you get %phys or something. NOT A SINGLE PLAYER ever crafted/used phys/elemental weapon, ever. this shit doesnt work, elemental roll on a phys weapon is ALWAYS a f.. brick

there will be no 'later'. nowadays pretty much noone plays melee (exageration but still) outside races (slams). removal of easy bleed weapon crafting (and introducing identical bleed/dot based SPELL with easier scaling) removes bleed builds. so whats left? strikes? lol..

GGG surely wont lift a finger to fix a playstyle played by ~5% of playerbase. POE is a spell based game now, pretty much always was. and once stuff like that settles, it is business-wise to focus on 95% of the playerbase and ignore the remaining 5%. this is the current state of affairs - melee players are a minority why focus on them? it doesnt make $$$

I mean melee is already OP and more power creep is going towards stuff that works with melee, so it'll probably null itself out which I'm very happy about.

700M DPS theoretical max atm and I haven't updated it since last league with me getting 150M in Heist with 200K ehp on average per damage type.

If melee won't get nerfs for the next 2 leagues, 1 billion DPS would be realistic for my build without any weird or broken interactions.

But the worst part about that possible nerf is that Paradoxica is unaffected by it and it'll make Paradoxica now stronger than even in league mirror tier foils.

Damn what the. I just came back, has melee just been useless still the entire 4 years aside from leveling quick with cyclone ? EQ and Sunder used to be okay but im guessing not so much ?
Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in!

one of the trailers showcasing new unveiling mechanic. you can find similar topic on reddit if you check page 3 or 4. people are mostly sleeping on it because.. they dont care (melee, lul)

but if that is final version then.. im bit lost for words tbh. buffing summoners and bv would have been more expected than gutting the already gutted
