how do you like 3.14 melee/attack nerf?
"I admit I've made the same complaint that spells can just get a lot of their power just from leveling compared to attacks which needed to invest in gear to not feel bad, but this was also years ago when the game was very different: monster life wasn't buffed across the board including Uber Elder, Atlas progression was more closely to trying to get maps to drop and bossing wasn't as important so fast clear over more damage was everything, if you were actually willing to invest into gear and a weapon then you would go bows, not Melee. 3.7 kind of turned the game upside down and caused a community uproar when everybody saw one Melee skill being used instead of a grand total of zero, which of course led to everyone denying that it is properly categorized as a Melee skill like clockwork. |

Ahh so now we are at 10-15 ex already instead of "slap +1 gem level and do endgame". And we have a build that most likely ends up with <10k phys EHP and bends over the first time something physical passes the block. And i wonder if you'll even pass the 4 mio mark for sustained DPS on it.

This is honestly getting a bit tiresome, why don't y'all start the next league with the best bang-for-the-buck build you can think of and we'll just compare who got the best bang for the least buck in the end.
Oh, we'll also need an odd number of judges, impartial, of course so that rules me out, any interested parties can apply here :) Wish the armchair developers would go back to developing armchairs.

Hell, melee isn't even melee anymore. It's casting with weapons.
The validity of actual "Strike" skill builds is almost non-exsistant. One of my issues with melee is there are key skills you'll see being used to show off DPS. Blade Flurry, Reave, Vaal Double Strike. Outside these, Cyclone CoC and some Slam attacks. The concept melee is cheaper to build doesn't hold much water for me because of things like Toxic Rain, Blades, Mines and some spells having similar outcomes with even less investment. There's not much point in melee. Bleed Bow Glad made this painfully clear for myself. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

" Why bother with fresh leaguestart? We have plenty of examples for the melee part here in this topic. Take that level 80 build from kiss me or take either my jugg or my chieftain. Both have <5 EX gear, ~3 mio sustained dps, enough EHP to survive pretty much everything from Sirus DIE beams to Elder Slams (doesn't even need temp def buffs for that), high mobility with hit and run playstyle and no need for flasks because of immunity to most/all ailments and enduring cry serving as a life flask that never runs out. All i am asking for is to see one caster build that can boast all of this for the same budget. I am pretty sure such a build does not exist. I've tried to achieve something similar on a caster for over a year now to no avail. There is a reason why melee is always the top performer in SSFHC races. No investment was made into that character. They're lvl 80 with 5-link, should be obv. You did this before. There's some issues with your pricing and like I said, "used to show off DPS. " The equipment without helm is 1 EX, the clusters are a minimum of half an ex a pop as well; that's on the last days of the league. You can adjust your gear if you want. Who cares if your purview of linguistic interpretation of what melee is doesn't fit into the common reading of it? The skill gem is tagged as melee, everyone calls it melee, the weapons are classified as melee, it has a close range limitation. You having the tools and resources readily available to easily prove us wrong while making unbacked bold claims shows that you're all talk and no walk. That in no way indulges a debate because you're doing exactly what I said yet trying to argue something. I made no bold claim. I made a common claim. Quite common by the rest of the community and you don't have to take it seriously because the majority agree regardless. Every build I've seen you post follows the same format.
