Could GGG, Shopify, and Zizaran be prosecuted?
Most younger players who're playing this game, anywhere from 13-25 year old aren't as aware and educated of the potential risks, and health complications associated with barely getting any sleep or in severe cases not sleeping at all for 4-5 days. In the past though I've done my best to raise awareness around here, so most don't get sucked into these large prizes being advertised. I mean many of you have already seen the hours some of the PoE streams log once these events start.
Since the Gauntlet event specifically requires and encourages not sleeping to significantly increase your chances at winning, especially for the biggest prize competing with 15,000+ others, could the parties above be prosecuted, especially if due to this specific event there has been a death reported? I'm also not talking about scrub change, but millions for the victims family if a death has been reported linked and associated with this event as well as hundreds of thousands in punitive damages in a class action lawsuit for the rest who've been lured into this type of event, without any warning of what not sleeping or lack of sleep for many days can cause? The chances are also not small for a heart collapse or long term organ failure/damage associated with barely getting any sleep for many days or none at all (which energy drinks make it possible). Personally, if I was a parent, regardless how old is my child 13-25 years old I would like it to be protected, warned (informed) from anything that I could be unaware of, like playing a game that encouraging him/her to not sleep for excessive amount of time. No. Also, these events are won by the .1% of players who prepare and know exactly what they are getting into.
99.9% of players do not even qualify for the big prizes. Therefore, there are no real health concerns. Either you are 100% prepared and know the game inside out or you are the 99.9% who play for fun knowing that after day one - there is zero chance in hell of winning anything significant. Should McDonald's be prosecuted? Budweiser? Pringles? If kids are playing an unhealthy amount of video games, it's a parental issue. Hell, if kids are playing PoE at all, it's a parental issue. Adults are - and should be - free to choose their path in life.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Mar 28, 2021, 1:16:13 PM

@MarloStanfield, exactly...
No other parties in this industry in the recent years (that I've been aware of) have been involved in promoting what these parties have been, and without a labelled warning of the dangers and health risks associated with one of the requirements to win the advertised large prize in such an event. I care less about what could/would happen to Shopify or Zizaran, but I do care about GGG since there's already a significant evidence of their direct involvement with them to promote/sponsor, and organize this type of event. Further, I'm worried and why I'm making this thread, because this apparently will continue. Zizaran has announced multiple times recently how he intends to continue promoting and organizing this specific event. The game being rated M for mature means very little since I've seen the age of some who've been streaming this event, which further makes me worried since the parents aren't fully aware of what their child could be encouraged to do, especially if it sees popular streamers not sleeping for 24+ hours. What we're seeing with this particular event is something that most other games do not feature and promote, especially with big cash prizes, which is why there must be more to be done, like a labelled warning for this event, than just the game being rated M. I know for a fact most parents aren't aware, but they would like to be if their child is playing a game that features/promotes a chance to win thousands of $, but the requirement or should I say what it takes to significantly increase the chance to win is to barely get any sleep for many days or no sleep at all with the help of things like energy drinks.
