Game crashes to desktop with no error - UNPLAYABLE
Ryzen 5 3600, Nvidia GTX 3070, 450 series motherboard, 16GB RAM, 2560 x 1440 (32 bit) (100Hz)
Blue screen or complete lockup within 10 seconds of starting, causing a reboot. Deleted and reinstalled 3 different versions of Nvidia drivers, no change. Deleted POE completely, including profile, same effect. Tried Steam and native client, same effect. Installed Steam client on different drives, no effect. DirectX11 or Vulkan, tried both, same thing. Fullscreen mode. No problems with other games so far. Edit: Disabling SMT lets me get to hideout, but now crashes to desktop (but no reboot) as soon as open I open a map (or, on restarting, as soon as I enter a map). I guess you could call it an improvement... Last edited by Mal_function#2853 on Jan 30, 2021, 4:14:55 AM

I'm in the same boat since the last update actually making the game unplayable. I either crash when I load into oriath or any instance with a lot of effects on screen without error. I had no problems from the start of the league, rarely crashing but still playable. I've tried every fix: switch to vulkan, turn everything low, multithreading off, reinstalled game, updated/roll back drivers, validate files, etc. I don't know what to do but its really frustrating and turns me away from playing until its fixed.

" A tipp some pages before works : - install process lasso - start process lasso and right clight the pathofexile app in the selection to open dropdown - select disable smt for poe ( "cpu affinity" in drowdown -> disable SMT either current or permanent, your choice ) works for me and fixes crash on 1600x, seems to cause some micro-lags from time to time though, but no major problems, the 6 physical cores are plenty to handle the game. no guarantee for other cpus GGG should really keep their hands from optimizations they obviously have no clue about and focus on the game content in future ... gl :) Last edited by bex_HB#1414 on Jan 30, 2021, 4:58:24 AM

" It's more likely the game because before patch 3.13 it was running fine for years on a Ryzen and the last patch made it even worse. |

" Yes disabling SMT works. echo off | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/smt/control |

This is a joke. I am a paying customer and have never seen such issues with a game and I'm only 4 leagues into it. Since the update, I can spend only 5 minutes in the game then it crashes...
I have uninstalled the latest Windows update but that did nothing. I have a Geforce 920M. Fix this issue! |

same here
ryzen 1700 - geforce 1080 tried lasso - deactivated smt -no crash in 5 minutes, but unplayable because of fps drops per second. waiting for fix until I can play. feels bad |

Same here...
Processor AMD Ryzen 5 1500X Quad-Core Processor, 3500 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) no problem until last patching, thrown me to desktop every few minutes. |

" I have no idea about that app, thanks. I really did not want to cripple my whole PC just for POE. Few maps in and it works great (apart for some micro stuttering). Guess I will have some fun after all. Thanks! |

" Process Lasso does not affect the overall performance of the PC as long as you don't set any global limitations. You can limit just PoE to only use "real" cores 0, 2, 4, ... and not the SMT/virtual cores. |
