"Only the wealthiest of players........."
WoW is a good comparison, they did most new content for the top 1% of players by time commitment to the game and nothing for anyone else (think it was called Naxxramus). They ignored the feedback, and eventually their subscribers dropped far enough and they tried to adapt, 10 man dungeons instead of 40, battlegrounds, etc.
GGG is already free, but eventually paying customers will drop or find the next game, and then GGG will start listening to feedback. Not before. |

You mean when they released TBC as a next expansion which had raids that are considered one of the hardest ever? (welp, at least it wasnt 40 man again)

TBC completion rates were vastly over Naxx, as I recall. I think 2 guilds per server were beating Naxx.. something like that.
I think there is a huge difference between difficulty (which I think most people enjoy) and what GGG would call endgame grinds (which are by definition tedious). You don't need tedium to add difficulty. |

It wasnt even about difficulty, it was about numbers. Its eiasier to find gorpu of 25 people that work together than group of 40 people (that and fact that classic Naxxramas was just shit design)

Dude.....and I say that nicely. The 1% farms gear for the rest of us. You need an attitude adjustment. I used to play WOW back in the day, without a strong guild you didn't progress and you have to deal with all the crap and be on time for every raid. Spending extra hours on POE (on your schedule) is a million times better than being in a bitching complaining WOW guild.

" I dont know, plowing through the same maps over and over again because progression in PoE is completely RNG, and you arent getting the drops, is not fun. RNG based progression is a pretty big weakness, doesnt make for good gameplay. I dont think gear or mechanics or anything else in PoE is unfriendly to non-streamers, but having to build map bases in the hundreds and still dropping down tiers due to bad streaks, that is based on the top 1% playing habits. Try standard it allows for long term progression that never gets reset or deleted. This way you can get any item in the game even with only a couple hours a day. But I think your problem is burnout more than anything. Try taking a break from the game if your not having fun.

" The moment they added watchstones to atlas and reworked how Zana works there is barely any RNG in PoE progression. If you know how everything works you can reliably hit red maps in a first 24h of playing. It wasnt the case in the past. |

" Very few guilds completed either, Naxx was the last raid in a game system without gear resets and as a result had a tiny completion % (it was also hard AF) Black Temple in TBC was exactly the same for the same reasons albeit a bit more accessible due to better game design, and us as players being better. Once they released sunwell the great welfare epic system it became started and raids saw far more action due to gear resetting before each one, financially a good move but for me personally was the end of the mmo glory days :p designing for the 1% has plenty of upsides its never as dumb as people make it out to be, its possible to go too far and it absolutely wastes some content that might be a major asset to your game but it also keeps the chase going and allows room for player growth. |
