In the current state of game, what speaks against vacuum pickups?

Just dont pick up a lot of shit. I guess if you do chaos recipe or something you need to then.. just a big hassle IMO. I use neversink strict lvl 4 so I'm not troubled much. Unless maps are really juiced I can run 2-4 before seeing vendor/stash. I play SSF so chaos recipe has no value to me. I pick up most very early to get some gears for use.

So the only thing speaking against it seems to be
"weight"
of items?

Wow.
why not ask GGG for a bot that plays the game for you from level 1 to 100?

Let me guess, your suggestion is also to just filter smaller drops to reduce the needed clicks instead like some other geniuses suggested?
And then when you need the small currency you buy it from trade bots.
I hope you appreciate the irony of your statement there.

The suggestion that vacuum pickup is even remotely similar to botting is seriously hilarious.
Wouldn't you prefer being able to loot these currencies YOURSELF without needing to click hundreds of times, instead of having to buy them from others?
You can always find arguments but in non race setups there is absolutely no viable argument against auto pickup. It is always tied to rmters, lots of decisions, lots of balancing is done around RMT in PoE, wich is undenyably bound to happen in a trading intensive F2P game, even in the best one.

Automatic pickup is not hard to implement, it doesn't hinder people who don't want to use it.Most people don't particularily enjoy looting and tetrising .

I find extremly shaddy not having some yet. A vaccuum button is imho a bare minimum feature that we should have at this point :).

The idea of limiting a vacuum to only currency, and only once an item has been clicked is great, IMO. The idea of clicking one stack of perandus coins and having the rest autoloot is dreamy.

Beachhead maps would be much better with shard pick-ups as well. Delving would be infinitely better.

Granted, my filters show next to nothing, but I like this idea.

Heres an idea for you - try to push for Black Hole to be a currency vacuum.
Weight is basically it. It's supposed to be a decision to make whether to pick up something. The problem is that right now gear that drops on the ground are too numerous while also not being very useful, and not enough "lower weight" items drop in stacks.

If they can lower the number of rare items that drop and use their new itemization generation to make them roll better, it would improve the value of dropped gear while also nerfing the chaos recipe.
Several things are speaking against vacuum pickup.

First of all, vacuum pickup would be treating the symptoms, and not the cause. The drop system is in the middle of a (much needed) rework. The quantity needs to be severely reduced, while the quality needs to be improved. When an RPG doesn't give you an urge or need to pick up a dropped item, it's doing something very wrong. And no, this isn't a trading issue, as people in SSF tend to ignore 90% of drops too.

Secondly, as others have touched upon; pacing. While 'going fast' is fun, it should never be the main objective. Speed gives so many benefits by itself, that encouraging it even more by reducing the few benefits we have of actually interacting with the game, is a very bad idea. Gameplay doesn't have to be even more mundane than it already is.

No, GGG should give us more reasons to pick up loot, instead of removing looting all together.

Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

So dismissive, as if item weight is a small and insignificant thing. Why?
