Does lion's roar increase bleed damage?
"Melee physical damage" modifier itself is completely unrelated to bleed damage and doesn't affect it at the slightest, what can't you get?
It's coded this way. U-N-R-E-L-A-T-E-D Like, nothing in common. The list of bleed-related modifiers is on the wiki, check it out. In the cited thread, it's about "attack damage" modifiers, which is apples and oranges. This is a buff © 2016 The Experts ™ 2017 Last edited by torturo#7228 on Dec 7, 2020, 10:49:27 AM

Except that melee hits are always attack hits.
And if you check the Wiki for "attack"... The following keywords are always R-E-L-A-T-E-D to attacks: Weapon Unarmed Melee Bow other weapon-specific Cheers |

PoE Wiki: "Other modifiers of increased/reduced/more/less type affecting hits (attack, melee, ranged, projectile, etc), as well as any damage modifier specific to the skill, do not apply to bleed. " Though, certain "attack" related modifiers can, as an exception - like "attack skills deal X increased damage". A modifier met on most of the block nodes, and it affects both hits and ailments. I'm not sure why this discussion went for so long with so much wrong information.
Lion's Roar does not affect bleed damage in any way. Total damage of hit, of either attack or spell, does not matter for ailment or damage over time effect since DOT was reworked several years ago. Each attack node on skill tree will have 2 modifiers, one applying to attack portion and the other to damage over time / damaging ailments. These two apply strictly to their specified value and do not double dip. Take Cleaving as an example: two relevant mods on this notable are 20% increased damage with axes & axe attacks deal 20% increased damage with ailments. Your bleed inflicted by axe attacks will be increased by 20%, not by 40%. There are global physical or global damage modifiers on skill tree or items that also apply to bleed. Lion's Roar is not one of them. This is easy to test in the game by checking value of your bleed on character sheet before and after using the flask. |

"Just to be clear, I think you are saying the following is wrong... "Also to be clear, that post was only by a player. But the response from Mark_GGG to that particular post in that thread, which was from yesterday, was "Yes". I'm always happy to be wrong. I just get confused when players are telling me that GGG is wrong. Or perhaps I misunderstood something in Mark's response. But let's assume that the Wiki is wrong and Mark is wrong and the bleed damage is not based on the damage of the original hit, can someone please point to something that explains how the base bleed damage actually is determined? Or any base ailment DoT, since the Wiki describes them as all working the same way - i.e. scaled off the original hit damage. Cheers Last edited by GreyLensman#5323 on Dec 7, 2020, 4:34:39 PM

What belt are all the lacerate glads wearing?
Ryslathas Coil. why? because theyre all operating on the following assumptions: A) the highest damage bleed (really the highest 8, crimson dance) is the one that deals damage B) bleed damage is based on the damage dealt by the attack You know what else theyre wearing? Siege axes that look like Not just any random axe with the elder bleed mod, but 300+ pdps axes with it. because of B So, IF THIS IS NOT THE CASE, would someone kindly tell everyone what determines the value of a bleed? |

" Ryslatha's coil boost the base max damage by 40%. Lion's roar boost melee damage. Bleed is scaled from base damage, which means weapon base damage + any added physical damage on gear. Melee modifiers doesn'T apply to bleed. Thats why it doesn't work with Lion's roar but it works with Ryslatha's coil. Last edited by Krayken#1299 on Dec 7, 2020, 5:04:31 PM

" Dude. Listen. Mark's response in this thread was specifically about "attack skills deal X increased damage" modifier, as it was the questioned one - it's in the title. Which modifier affects bleed, altogether with the hit damage. This is a buff © 2016 The Experts ™ 2017 Last edited by torturo#7228 on Dec 7, 2020, 6:27:56 PM

" The Wiki does say "base physical damage". Assuming that's correct, the question is how that's defined. Base damage always seems to be considered the weapon base + additional flat damage as you say, although there is not actually a Wiki entry for it, and all the comments I've seen on it are from players, not GGG. But that definition is not consistent with Mark_GGG's comment that increased % attack damage scales bleed damage. And if you check PoB, it looks like certain global mods will affect bleed, while others will not. For example, increased damage and increased attack damage boost your bleed in PoB, but increased melee damage and increased projectile damage do not. So if it's "base physical damage" that determines bleed damage, I'm still not clear what modifiers beyond flat physical make up that base, or where it that is spelled out. Not trying to be argumentative here. It's just annoying when you can't get good information on something. :-) |
