XP loss on death = time loss. Time loss = frustration/negative feelings.
" please elaborate where the definition of an ARPG is without trading? I remember trading in Diablo 2 all the time. Diablo 1 wasn't as much about trading I agree, but it also was meant to be a single player game for the most part. To play the latest stages in Hell u still were way better off when trading some stuff with ppl, instead of grinding out the NPCs for the one rare(magic) weapon u'd need. So maybe ur view of ARPGs is something different than what it really is. PoE2 0.4 Character:

" i dont think the problem in poe is with trading its just for most parts of the game you cant avoid trading for good items because the crafting system is like winning in the lottery no wonder people crafted the sh*t out in harvest league and it was fun (even though i couldnt craft one single good item , maybe cus im bad) because people didnt need to trade and having this kind of loop whispering 50 people without any response the death penalty would be actually ok if i'd had the possibility to actually min max on my own without trading and not grind currency-die-repeat until i can effort to buy the item i need to "survive" better... the problem with the death penalty is it just takes away something means you not only getting punished for having bad gear or bad knowledge you also get punished for actually dying but the thing is though death in this game is sometimes unavoidable when i compare it to other games like dark souls were you can actually react and avoid death because you not getting clusterf*d by 100s of enemies poe is more like csgo you run around the corner and get headshotted with an awp within an blink of an eye... if the game is unable to give the information on which clusterf* of monsters is dangerious and which is not it should stop punishing people for dying to its stupid mechanic thats my opinion on that "There are Penalties in the Game, no one's complaining about them"
