Guild Wars 2 - Last beta weekend now ?

Well, if nothing in the game matters except the PVP end-game... then, I suppose I'll have to take a huge pass on this one and count myself fortunate that I dodged this metaphorical bullet. Fortunately I have DOTA 2 to slake any PVP thirst I may have, and DOTA 2 even has a substantially higher skill ceiling! Simply having this little conversation has moved me from being on-the-fence about purchasing GW2, to completely jumping off it and running as far away as possible.

Also, what you're really saying is that every game ever made is just designed to make people buy it.

Correct. Every game developer wants people to play their game, right? Everyone wants to make money for one reason or another, right?

Pve mattered for plenty of people in GW1, and the pvp was amazing.

I'll just go ahead and dismiss you as a troll given that you claim dota 2's skill ceiling is higher even though you haven't played Gw2, and even never played Gw1.

EDIT: Also not sure why you quoted me, as that was exactly my point.

You're dismissing me as a troll because you don't agree with me that DOTA 2 has a higher skill ceiling than GW2?

...Right.
I'm dismissing you as a troll because you state that as a fact even though you haven't even played the game itself OR it's predecessor.

Claiming anything about the skillcap is straight up speculation, especially if you've never played it.

This game is going to pay2win, and it seems that nobody is willing to agree on that. I mean, there are "Experience Boosters", "Crafting Boosters", "Karma Boosters", and "Magic Find Boosters". Outside of that, you can buy "Loot Bags" that give you a random rare/unique/whatever item (it's good, just know that), magic keys to open chests in the game, etc.

I don't get it... nobody thinks this is a pay2win system; you're telling me that a "Experience Booster" doesn't give someone an unfair advantage over another player? The vast majority of fans, or seemingly everyone, for that matter just goes: "Oh... well, the experience booster is so insignificantly small it it isn't -really- an advantage."

What the hell?

It's not -really- an advantage? It is or it isn't. It's a 1 or a 0. There is no gray area. You are PAYING MONEY for an ADVANTAGE. The game is pay2win.

Well , considering you get scaled down in level. I don´t really care much about it :)

And if you focus on doing the event all over continuously you level very fast. If i had not been goofing around. i would have had around level 25-30 instead of 8-12 ^^

But i get your point , and i agree with you. you can pay2win in that sense. keys you can get ingame also for the chests after you do stuff :)

But since ppl scale down , i just don´t care ^^

And in PvP all just scale to max and go for it. I just don´t think the buy stuff will effect this type of level system the same as a normal system would be effected by it.

just my 2 öre :)

What you should realise is that the game is not based on levels, at all.
Just like WoW it only 'starts' at max level.

Furthermore, this is the most important reason why it's not pay to win:

End game gear is all the same.
The only difference is it's appearance.

The most 'useful' things you can buy with real money are cosmetic items.

So the "fun" starts at max level, and all of the end-game gear is the same. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is primarily a PvP game? Can anyone say cluster-fuck? Sounds... highly enticing.

you get End-game at Early-game.

You have Fun from the moment you log in.

GW2 will not give you your Uber End-game PvE Fix. Tera / WoW that way --->

GW2 Is at it´s core about the PvP and to kick the other servers ass.

Everything els is just a great bonus.

And..

wait for it...

waaaait for it.....

I think GW 2 has taken all the good parts from other titles and just made them better ^^

And the PvP is UN-matched atm.

In my own humble opinion =)

Now how about we sit down and talk ^^

I don't get it... what's the point of having any content leading up the the end-game? If none of it really matters, and, as you say, the real game starts at the end, then....? Why not just have everyone start at the max level and we can have fun from the beginning? You know what I'm starting to see: this early content is just another way for Guild Wars 2 to justify their experience boosters and other inane micro-transactions. Without this pointless early PVE content, nobody would buy the experience boosters, because there would be absolutely no -need- to buy them in the first place! This game, in the most base of senses, is just a concealed pay2win with a sugar-coated justification ala PVE content that allegedly doesn't matter to anyone.

Oh it matters , doing the different things will give you access to specific items you but from them with the karma you have gotten.

And they give you that needed edge :)

Also it plays into you spec and how you want to design it.
Bu sure , i guess if you feel like it you can just not do it, and PvP your way to max level and be happy ^^

Also all the extra talent points you get from the PvE content just like GW 1.

The game rewards you all the time for the things you do, it just makes it very clear that there are many ways to get to where you want to be.

If you don´t feel like doing all there thousand of extra things is your thing. well just go and buy a boost , and since there are pay-sites for boosting. Why not just move that part into the game and provide a better service legit then the illegal boosters do ?

Plus it makes the amount of players getting scammed allot less. So rather that then getting hooked by some random idiot offering you things.

But once more, i get your point on it all. I agree to some term, and hope this made it a little clearer from how i have understood it all atleast :)
