so is this also "the worst league ever" or worth playing

Its not as bad as Harvest. But the constant wait in front of doors and the return run where you do nothing but run and...wait for doors...its not good gameplay.
I tried it a bit and for now I don’t like two things about it.

1.Separated from maps: you have to choose between Heist and maps because it’s a separate ‘event’.

2.Not rewarding enough and even boring? Basically a chest opening simulator - you go in, open chest, get out. Even if the rewards are good the gameplay seems pretty boring. Drop from mobs is sheit and the experience also feels sheit. They are almost not worth killing if not for the alert level. I don’t see why I should do it instead of maps. Somehow it just feels empty and souless.

Let’s compare it to Delve which is also a separate event outside maps. Delve has large mob density + good experience + nice drops and besides all of this it has additional rewards from different encounters, more rewards in side areas and behind breakable walls, abyss areas, bosses, progression system both in terms of going deeper and upgrading stuff with azurite. If not for the limited sulphite I could easily choose it as an alternative for mapping or switch between maps/Delve. I can’t say the same thing about Heist.

the last several leagues have been "the worst league ever" according to forums and reddit and I'm just wondering if this is still the case
I think people have ignored that fact the the "bad" "untested" leagues we've seen this year and even last year are most likely beta tests for POE2. I expect that all of the league mechanics we like and don't like will show up in a similar form when POE2 is revealed. It seems obvious to me that we are doing the testing now for that future.

GGG is learning what works, what is liked, what changes are needed etc. For POE2 the recent league mechanics may not appear exactly the same, but I suspect the underlying concepts and programming will be similar.

Heist reveals that it is likely we will have companions of some sort in 2 and perhaps a richer life in whatever town environments they create. Harvest? Perhaps the whole growing thing was a ruse so they could see how folks took to determined crafting and what kinds of results people got. Fossils, betrayal crafting, Synthesis, harvest crafting and the old rng methods are all out there for putting together into some kind of whole.

Making throwaway leagues every three months is a total waste of resources and it only makes sense that GGG is using them test for the future. GGG doesn't need to do much testing before a league releases, because we have enrolled to do it for them. Players are good at breaking new stuff and GGG knows this. Thoroughly testing each league is both time consuming and unnecessary when you have 100,000 players ready and willing to do so.

We have been playing POE2 in a piecemeal fashion for months now. Enjoy it.

This league starts off very fun, but once you're doing higher tier heists (80-83) it's subject to the same new illogical surprise 1-shots that Legion and Metamorph had.

Same issues, different face. I'm having fun but if you're on the fence it's 100% not worth it.
Mobile games have better trading...
often after clicking on a heist door for the npc to open i wonder....whoah did the game just crash, again? after waiting > 10s the door opens. that is pretty slick progamming and design. wraeclast 2020, where delays are a feature!
If you crash in HC during high lvl heist (76+ even, not even that high )
you can even lose your characater cause too many mobs, regular heist (not even grand). Like when trying to open a door. So it's not even worth ...
The probabilty of dieing on door crash is like 2-3 times that of dieing on
a map.

There's a few things that are decent with this league. The storyline is kind of fun. There's some decent new items, and a small bit of new item progression with equpping the new slot and the new support NPCs.

Other than that, it's definitely the worst league so far, it has a great concept but just really poor execution.

Depending on the map type, you're often stuck waiting around for painfully slow animations, pretty much for no reason.

The pathing is AWFUL, your support characters get stuck all the time which forces you to run around trying to get them unstuck so you can actually progress.

There's very little skill or choice involved. Now that the mechanic has been changed there's either no risk, or the incredibly "fun" possibility of getting a great drop that you lose because you get one shot by poorly designed or spawned mobs.

I want to reiterate that last point, because it really highlights one of the worst things about this league. Imagine if you got a Mirror and then accidently deleted it. That's the feeling you can get from this league. While it happens less now with the changes, it's still possible, and it sucks. Nothing like adding a "feature" that makes you want to quit playing.

It's extra grindy with how costly it is to open up blueprints. Now you have to grind to get Grand Heists to drop, then grind more to get currency to unlock those maps.

Also if you fail a heist, you generally lose out on the extra marks, which means not only did you fail your mission and possibly lose out on loot, you also have to grind even more to make up for the lost Heist Mark currency.

For no good reason, there's no waypoint into Rogue Harbor. You have to use currency to get there every time, which is just annoying.

It was incredibly buggy when it first came out, really like a "didn't test this at all" level of buggy. It would crash about every 1/3 heists and you'd lose everything.

It's very non-intuitive. Part of this is due to all the changes that had to be made to make this league less terribly painful, but now things like, you can re-enter a normal heist, but lose everything if you leave or die during a mission, are not clear at all when you first go in.

The "hook" for the league seems to be around making hard choices. When the league first came out it was between killing mobs and opening chests. You couldn't leave, so you had to choose your loot on the fly, really high stakes. Now that, that's pretty much gone, it's come down to, decide what chest to open before your alert level maxes out. Most of the chests you open have no indication of what's in them, so it's pretty much devolved into open X number of chests then you lose out on everything else. No choice, all RNG, almost feels worse than the original concept.

post patch - more than ever determined that this is "worst league ever". And i played Talisman league...
best league ever just gotta grind level 70 areas for grand hiests and then you got awesome new gear!
besides the huge amounts of crashes i have in this league, its pretty repetitiv and kinda boring. Open heist, click a few chests, get item in the end, flame dash out as fast as possible while waiting for doors to open, repeat
