This response was disappointing though. Not nearly as well thought out as your other post.

A lot.

I'm going to focus on one part of this and leave the rest to 'yes, we agree'. I never said that Exiles are 'struggling' with lower level content -- they're bored of it. As they should be; it's the same damn 'story' every damn time. Sure, TencentGGG can try to gussy it up with a league gimmick, but that's fairly superficial until, you guessed it, the random dungeon generation aka Maps. I'm a lore junkie. I love the story if there is one. I want to be drawn into a huge narrative, especially if my place in it is relatively small. So when I say I can't conceive of any player type that would genuinely enjoy rerunning PoE's 10 act campaign at least 5-10 times a year, it is not an aspersion upon the campaign's creator/s. It's a natural acknowledgement that even those who dig the backstory are going to be done with it within a few runs through. It's not like PoE has branching quests or dialogue, or a slew of MMO-like side adventures. It couldn't be more linear if it tried. And that's assuming you even CARE about all that. If you don't, all you're doing is running a set course against set bosses with set rewards every time. It's rote. It's mindless. And you're going to be facing the best of it later again anyway, at a much higher difficulty. Any wonder many Exiles refer to the actual 'game' as a tutorial and think anyone who isn't Mapping within a day of character creation is doing it wrong.

I said to someone a few days ago I'd probably still be playing PoE if it had an Adventure Mode-style option. Just some basic endless generation of play areas in which to level all sorts of characters. Because for all the reasons I quit, lack of enticing character build diversity certainly wasn't one. And here's another irony: if the game had some sort of Mapping system from scratch, I'd probably play much deeper into it because I wouldn't be reminded by the story: okay, story's over, time for the pointless post-story endless grind. Once I get a sense that a game's story is over and that I've explored all possible narrative paths, I have little incentive to keep going. That is when the illusion of a game's replayability dies for me.

A mode that is designed 100% to be replayable after the story is done for new characters is almost certainly going to improve player retention after they've endured whatever story you're trying to tell, which is why most modern ARPGs have one. PoE, of course, doesn't need it: GGG have conditioned their most ardent players to simultaneously despise the main campaign as a waste of time AND accept that it's a necessary evil. Why go to any effort to change that? It works. And that's always my conclusion when it comes to actually improving PoE instead of just adding more shinyshit to keep the kids distracted -- if it doesn't need to be done, they just won't do it. They almost certainly can't, resource-wise.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
I was gutted when GGG sold out to tencent.

The reason I supported as heavily as I did was specifically to keep GGG independent and out of the hands of a big corporation like tencent.

I dont ever see myself supporting another indie dev again.
Ascension tied to Lab is the worst thing GGG has done...apart from GGG's philosophy on Trading. Oh and Gambling Loot boxes. And selling out to tencent.

I used to love GGG. I supported to ensure GGG remained independent, now I just wish I could get my money back. -_-

Let's test that, shall we? - https://youtu.be/IgbkhKjAfM8
Tencent ruling is very clear when you see that the concern with the mtx sales is greater than with the fun or players...
Tencent or GGG, its still same manipulative marketing... be supporter but in reality you are pure customer with purposly created desire to buy, to have feeling of being part of something etc., but in the end you are milked cow with shifted value of being helpful. But if you spend money here, for sure you spend them on other place.

Regards f2p - "Do you feel like you lack of space in your inventory? Dont wory, we have cure for you! Only for 20 dollars you will feel better!" - thats how GGG creates alternative reality.

Both examples presented are pure abuse.

Tencent logo would be nice, but share holders are usualy hidden. No matter who owns GGG, GGG tactics from very start was to make game for people who enjoy ARPG and to make it fabric for money. Imo Tencent will help to milk more money - they have more know-how.

It is very wrong of GGG to not make it clear even in the video game of the involvement of Tencent, many of the supporters for this game did so because wanted to aid a struggling game company that was founded by gamers with a passion for RPGS. But now that it sold out to Tencent it should been made clear to us who now technically owns GGG, as alot us would not purchased the supporter packs or the overpriced gorging that is the MTX. Finding out after the fact is frustrating as in truth many of us would not have supported GGG if knew it is now owned by Tencent. We should be offered refunds if don't want to support a cooperation such as Tencent, and it should been made clear to us when Tencent bought out GGG that it was now owned by Tencent, alot us don't even know that fact. Tencent owns the majority of GGG now, they may said when sold out nothing would change but I believe alot the MTX prices and fact the currency is US not location NZ/AUS for the Oceanic is a sign of Tencent impact.

Well, I'm happy that it helped to make the game grow up in better conditions than in its early days.
Hf :)

This argument is not about china vs USA is about Big Corp. vs Players.

Usually Big corps will push for more Profits now.... and in many cases neglect some aspects of a product.

Happened on League, Fortnite and Pugb.

All owned by Tencent.

And in a way is happening here.
