How many other companies do that? Hell, they don't even do that with their own brands. Here's some examples - https://youtu.be/yowHM6nqu60

" If it's that important to you who you support, then it's up to you to do the due diligence and find out who you're supporting. As someone has already mentioned, all you need to do to find out who owns GGG is type "Who owns GGG" into Google, and the answer comes up immediately. |

A majority of big games developers are majority owned ( or their biggest shareholders ) by Chinese companies. Look at Fortnite, owned by Epic and who has biggest shares in Epic? Look at League of Legend, owned by Riot Games and who has biggest shares in Riot?
As long as those shareholders do not force the developers to do what they want, it is fine with me. As long as we do not see tons of Chinese culture coming to the game or force you to read Chinese history etc. If we do not want them to mix games and politics then we as the players should not mix games and politics as well. |

" This works until you start to wonder if you'd even notice if the shareholders are forcing the developers to do what they want. After all, are you going to notice what wasn't put into the game that the developers might have wanted to do as opposed to the more obvious what was put into the game against the developers' wishes? Best not to think about it, really. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I don't necessarily blame GGG, Chris Wilson and the gang for wanting to cash out 51% and frankly this game is light on pay for play. They announced the heck out of it, made forum posts explaining it etc. Everything that not many companies would do. They are the good guys....(they would be even better with a little Beta testing, hint hint). Would I have preferred that it wasn't a Chinese company? Only because of the Hong Kong fiasco.

"Rewards" are a motivator for everyone to do things, things that we normally wouldn't do as everything or should I say everyone has a price. It's why I've been advocating for this game to focus more on its rewarding structure so it can receive more success (profits/revenue).
Chris Wilson is a good example why having fun doing things is one thing, but having fun doing things and getting rewarded to the point you don't know how or on what to spend that "loot" is another. At the end we do live a brief life, but not that brief where we don't have the time to figure on what to spend our wealth, and in this world there is not a number that's enough unless one has enough wealth to purchase planet Earth and everything in it. Personally, I care less who owns what. What I do care about is what I am receiving from humanity that significantly improves my life experience to the point I do want to support that to continue. At the end it's not my fault if "Satan" happened to be the first or only one who understood me best what is it that I want and then to deliver it to me. " 'Fiasco' sure is putting it lightly. No need to elaborate there: it's both against the CoC *and* again, anyone interested can surely Find Out More for themselves. Anyway, in total the GGG shareholders cashed out a lot more than 51%. If that's even a relevant factor. More relevant is the fact that Chris resisted a lot of other offers to buy GGG before Tencent found the way to buy his If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever.
