How are you supposed to sell items?
|
For some reason everyone seems to be dead set against an AH. Why? I have no idea. There will still be bots and 3rd party websites selling items and currency for real money. Am I really supposed to post items on a forum just to have them buried 3 pages deep within 20 minutes where no one will see them? I have seen the forums here. Theres more bumping of your posts than actual people placing bids. You wont be able to sell stuff while you are asleep or at work/school. Please tell me by live release they actually have some way in place to conduct trading rather than forum sales? I mean what year is this again? Hell even 10 years ago Everquest had an AH and in 2013 we are supposed to use forums to sell things?
Also why do people ONLY bring up D3 when saying why they dont want an AH? They seem to be just fine in every other game out there. IGN: DabrixRN

Hello and thank you for opening thread #1789437298473218047321980 regarding trading. GGG has stated they are working on things and there have been many good suggestions I have seen thrown around. I suggest you visit the suggestion forums and contribute to the good ideas. That way maybe general won't flow as fast as you accuse trade of flowing. :-P

yeah it sucks hard that you have to interact with the community to sell things...
"You wont be able to sell stuff while you are asleep or at work/school" -> Forum? Why you should try Harcore http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/209310/page/1

The game does have a trade channel. Just prepend $ to enter it and sell to your heart's content. To enable seeing Trade, just toggle it on since it's off by default. Selling in # may yield more bids though.

I'd rather never be able to sell things, than lose the most significant proponent of social interaction in the game..
Use Trade Chat. <_< EA IGN: We_Have_Monk_at_Home

Trade chat is useless. The pool of players in there is so ridiculously small that the odds of having someone in there buying what you have is a waste of time. Every time I've tried to look for new gear, or sell gear, all I've seen in trade is the same 5 people spamming the same items.
The act of trading isn't even social. Players have already devolved the language into acronyms and short hand abbrieviations. Every step towards the future moves trading towards a more efficient form of itself--that is, players talk less. The equivalent would be to take flash cards to a flea market and having (WTS, WTB, All currency cards) and pointing to each object and using the cards. The greatest joke is the suggestion to use the trading forum--which more or less is a manual auction house. But, suggest an auction house and you'll have a thread so heavily flamed it'll be locked within three hours. There are ways to prevent what happened in D3 in POE. And, to be clear, the biggest problem with D3 wasn't even the players; the problem was always the bots. (See: multiboxing threads and fears of inflation). Regardless of whether or not you believe me, having an auction house that: Is only functioning while the account is online (and not afk), With a limit of two items, That has a comment section rather than a starting bid (ex: "Looking for 2 ~chaos or good bow for level 35ish), Gives the seller the OPTION to let bidders post comments with their bids (a counter offer/explanation) That lets bidders post ANYTHING (currency, or gear) THEN lets the seller accept any offer given within two hours (a short time!) wont have any of the problems that everyone screams about on the forums. And, if anyone thinks that they'll lose the "social" aspect of the game I ask you to "conversate" in trade chat--you get muted for it. Trading isn't social by their own rules! I assure you, that with a two item limit that MANY people will use both the "AH" and $trade because they want to sell so many items. But, players like me and the OP who just want to actually sell something and play POE (rather than playing $trade) can, and much easier. Ugh, sorry for the AH rant. Seriously though, everytime someone bashes an AH and suggests using a forum instead I have to go kill a kitten. TL:DR
Spoiler
Trading in POE isn't a social event. It's a hassle for people that want to play the game with limited time and turns an evening play session to a choice: trade or play the game.

" Yeah because spending hours trying to find someone online with what you want is so fucking cool and fun I wanna do it every single day. |
