Thoughts on GGG's dishonesty, false advertising, and new stash tabs.

It's not really about the money or needing or not needing them. It's that they lied about updating the ones we already bought. They were sold under the pretense that they were going to be updated with new currency/fragments/maps etc and now they're selling new currency/fragment/map tabs instead of updating them.

None of this would have actually been a problem if they were upfront about all of it.

Here's the thing. GGG is intentionally designing their game to make sure you will run out of space. That's why you have over 100 different essences in the game, 25 different fossils plus resonators, almost 1000 different unique items, etc...
Part of the design of the game is made with the intent to squeeze money out of you. And sure, the initial idea of saying that you don't need loads of tabs so if you want to keep loads of stuff you should pay a little is reasonable, but the scope seems to be getting very far from that initial idea.

Now, what is the extent of the good faith of GGG? I wouldn't guarantee that all the designers are doing this knowingly. It's easy to fool yourself into thinking that more content is always better, and it's very easy to motivate your reasoning to justify your choices (like they did for introducing trading through premium tabs, without offering any such tab to non-paying players).

The debatable choices started appearing before they got bought by Tencent, though.

There is not much space left in those existing tabs. So at some point they would have to either stop adding new things to the game or add new tabs. Lets say they did this a couple years ago. Would the game be better or worse if there were no Scarabs, Metamorphs or Oils? I think it would be worse and the game would be old/stale/more dead now.

So is that a problem to add 2nd page? Of course its not but for ggg its better to sell other tab, thats what they are doing

Everyone is correct in my opinion. Both good points.

Game developer time is a fixed resource. I think the core problem is what the developers are spending their time doing. Yes the mechanisms represented by scarabs, oils, and such are nice enhancements to the game. But they also represent effort being put into the game that could have been spent other ways. Ways that didn't require more stash space. GGG has chosen enhancements that will consume more stash space for obvious reasons. It is much harder to point at what fun new feature did not get done because scarabs are in the game because we can't know that. It is in the realm of lost opportunity. We can't know what it is but lost opportunity is real.

just wanted to say

if we assume that you really need all the special tabs

you have the "base game price" currency (75),map (150),uniq (140),fragment (75) + premium bundle (200) = 640 = 64$
this is the not on sale price, on sale you can get themfor less than 550 = 55$

if you are smart you simply buy 1 supporter pack 60$ get all the "basic" tabs and a free full armorset + some weapon/portal effect

this isnt more than you would pay for a pay to play aaa+ title

the other tabs are kinda 1 tab every new league (3 month) and they cost 40 = 4$ nearly all new aaa+ titel come with dlc and these normaly exceed 4$

overall the tab priceses seem very fair too me and the best part is,before you really need all of these tabs,you can enjoy the "full" game for free
with full game i mean no function,skill or whatever is locked behind a paywall

when you reach the point where you need them,you should have a good idea if you like the game or not

I try to explain my situation.

The first year or two, I played without stash tabs, that was when legacy hit and the game was at it´s best.

I then saw that my fun with the game always dropped once I hit level 90, as I couldn´t store all my maps and currency anymore. Therefore, I decided to buy these two tabs.

I felt that was fair, as the game was great and we were told that those tabs would see updates.

With Blight I decided to buy fragment and divination, as again, my fun was spoiled due the sheer amount of stuff that I could not store. Again, I had the impression, that my fragment tab will see updates for things like blight oils & Co.

After Blight, the quality of league content dropped massivly, so did the performance. I am honest with you, I just don´t enjoy the game in the way I did back then, mostly due the performance issues but also poor league design like with Legion or Delirium.

A few weeks ago, GGG stopped upgrading our currency and fragment tabs, I now feel bad for believing in their words and decided to no longer buy anything from them, as I can´t trust them anymore.

It is not on me to earn their trust, it´s on them to earn mine and this they can only do, if they fix the performance and do something about the tab system. The currency tab must hold ALL currency and the fragment tab all fragments.

This is not about wanting stuff for free, I paid money more than for a AAA game already, it´s about not feeling that my money is invested in the way I want and that I am not getting what I was once promised.
