Harvest could be worst league ever?
Harvest:
Bad mechanic with OP crafts thrown in. In a game where a lot of players would like to feel powerful, so many turned their noses at Harvest despite the lvl of crafts available. Should speak volumes. Tedious mechanic start up, 3rd party websites, discord trading and quarry farming league... the list goes on. |

While the deterministic approach of crafting might be bad to the future of the game, easing the crafting process that we have now is needed. Agree that the mechanics of the garden was bad. And yes the ending results of items were OP . But right now, you have fossils , alteration spam, chaos spam, annulments , multi mods , essence crafting , beast crafting and so on. And sometimes it's RNG over RNG over RNG to actually hit something good. I know that not everyone goes around doing T16 juiced 100% delirious maps, but why would content be gated behind RNG over RNG over RNG. People don't realize that, well for me let's say , that I do not have the time to play 8 hours a day just like a working day, It's pretty hard to actually afford something to help me push content. So I am forced into minion builds that are cheaper and more versatile to actually push higher content to afford better items. This frustrates me, because I would like to play something else and try new stuff , which I cannot because I have to craft half decent gear ( and lose all currency and end the league there), or buy half decent gear at over inflated prices ( just because someone took the risk). I agree OP gear should be gated behind time / luck / crafting / RNG , but lately every league just pushes damage and life for mobs, with awakening shenanigans and new 1 shot mechanics, while leaving the Ascendancies un-touched , the crafting as it is and only reworking skills. Now I do not mind it , I feel that players that have time should be rewarded, but consider the ones that that want to enjoy a Sirus kill with half baked gear. We don't need harvest crafting, we need ways to hit a power cap with basic stuff , while hitting high end tiers / items with more investment. Never invite Vorana, Last To Fall at a beer party.

" Highlighting "abuse" / capitalisation of mechanics etc. was not my intent, although given how things went I can see why you mention it as they do fall into some things I mentioned and it certainly wasn't discouraged. Simply put a bad league mechanic paired with op options does not mean players will grin and bear it esp. when you look deeper at when and how these options become available and in relation to general player behaviour. One does not necessarily cancel out the other and I think Harvest showed this. If anything the crafting was Harvest's Temporary saving grace but also added to long term problems in its current state like you mention. Yes POE has very varied player base and can not cater to all simultaneously the way things are or likely ever but things are being looked at and tried to at least attempt to lessen some concerns. Harvest crafting is probably a good example of this and Heist loot too. We'll see how not only it gets implemented but if they later intend to change it further. Its obvious I did not enjoy Harvest overall but I gave it a good shot up to T16 maps/guardians to at least have my opinion be my own which is way more then most that left it for dead what? Less then 1 month in? |
