Best Spectres
|
I usualy use a combo of one Evangelist (minion damage, increased AOE+increased Duration= huge, almost permanent shield) and one or two Burned Miscreations (increased burning damage, minion damage/life), sometimes also one Arcmage with Chain+Ele Proliferation but actualy I also do this job with my own Arc to support my minions pretty well. Vulnerability is THE curse of choice by the way if you want to use Burned Misscreations. "Cursed enemies take 40% increased damage from Damage Over Time effects"
Even though Map Bosses melt in seconds with this (if they do not kill you even faster like Temple Piety did with me recently XD ) |

Why does nobody link them damned machinegun squirrels?
GMP + Added Fire + Faster Attacks on those damned squirrels ensures permastun on anything. Link Minion Damage as well for more fun times. |

" I just tested this... wow... That is borderline fucking OP. I LOVE IT. |

" Before the usual suspects instantly cry for nerf and before GGG as usualy listen to these people we should explain that even a semi permanent shield does not prevent from insta deaths due lag/desync. At least for me, the hyperactive Evangelists desync alot and it's not always clear if my chara is really under the shield or not. There is an buff indicator (you also buff your minions if you are under the shield by the way) but never trust the shield to much. Some effects go through no matter if you are underneeth or not, like traps, Pietys Lightning Balls, Alchemist bombs and the evangelists explosions itself. The AOE also has the disadvantage that mobs can go easier underneeth which makes the shield useless. I actualy have the bigger AOE more for the Explosions and to compensate the desyncs a little bit. If you have 5l I would recommend Increased AoE and Concentrated Effect, Increased Duration and Minion Damage. This should keep the shield at same size as before but the Evangelists should do even more damage through Concentrated Effect. |

" Anything that enters the bubble can deal damage is how it works. So, damage fields, melee creatures, etc. It essentially acts as ranged protection. Like Piety's lightning ball as you state, will damage if the ball passes directly through the shield you are in yes. It protects from ranged, but little else. It's definitely not OP. IF anything, it's main function is it lets the spectres survive much longer than any other spectre type, which is a serious benefit. The AoE they do stuns as well, so AoE stun. Those are the two best features for evangelists. With a haste aura, or faster casting on them, plus your skeletons/zombies, you can have a very effective stun-summoner with them. That said, there are essentially two spectre options that work best; 1. Undying Evangelists for a tanky style, as summoners are probably the squishiest player characters in the game, or any game with summoners (it's always the drawback to the pet class). I use these not for DPS at all, but for their bubble, to protect from ranged attacks. 2. Tentacle Miscreations for a dpsy style. They simply out-dps the rest, no matter what gems etc you put in with other spectres, these gals are better, or can be made better. Line up four of these lovely ladies, and your zombies and skeletons often won't even get to attack. They just mow things down. Compared to which option you prefer, I don't see other options. Fire miscreations? Etc are just not as good. No amount of gem socketing will make them comparable, compared to doing the same for either of the 2, for durability or dps, whichever you prefer. " pietys lightning balls do not go through the proximity shield and neither do her lightning storms. I have yet to lose a single evangelist to temple piety, with no life leech on them. pretty sure other evangelists explosions also do not go through the shield traps work because they activate inside the bubble, same thing with alchemists/incinerator bombs Last edited by grepman#2451 on Jan 3, 2014, 3:29:14 PM

"every damage type in the game can stun. Stun goes purely off damage done in proportion to mobs HP, nothing else. Stun is not an inherent monster mod, and cannot be one. The most the AoE attack can do is reduce stun threshold like in the stun support gem, but I dont think it does that either. |
|
" Curious, do you run without life leech on your specters all the time? How often do you have to go get new evangalists? I'd love to drop it for more deeps if possible. |
|
" with evangelists, I dont use life leech up until 75-76 maps or so you can even get away without increased duration gem on a lot of lower level (up to 73 or so) maps of course there are always tough map mod combos out there that can get one or two of them wrecked, but usually its too rare to bother re-equipping and re-summoning for example, I soloed poorjoys with no LL and lost one evangelist towards the end because I got greedy. and poorjoys damage output is closer to lvl 78 map than a lvl 71 map Ill say this though, if you dont use LL, grace is nearly mandatory. its really underrated for a summoner (personally I think grace is an aura nearly everyone should run in general, especially summoner who most likely will spec into auras), I use it with a combination of blind on my spammy arc and summons are just so much harder to hit by the enemies. " Only physical damage can stun, outside some lighting skills, which evangelists deal. Their AoE field is entirely physical damage. " I run them with vitality and rejuvination totem. I have every passive for aura buffs that I could take, minus the non-permanent ones like buff duration. This makes, for example, my rejuv totem at I think level 17 heal at a rate near 250hp/sec, then add vitality which is probably around 2-3% hp sec. I don't use life leech at all, my pets almost never wipe. Can farm Dominus all day and maybe lose one if I don't throw up a totem every few hours. It's extremely rare. At any rate, with these two things, I have to replace an evangelist almost never. I maintain a horde on the frontline; 10 zombies and 14 skeletons, and they sit back nuking mobs with me in their bubbles. I run 4 spectre evangelists. I might lose one to Piety, but I lose none to Dominus. Main thing to understand, is again, enfeeble/temporal chains + blind on skeletons. This helps all other pets survive immensely. Think; The only thing that can really damage the evangelists are melee enemies that get inside their bubble. Enfeebled, blinded enemies don't really hit so well. I am really loving how planning everything out, even though I've only been here a short time so far is really panning out. Am taking out Dominus on merc in about 1-3 minutes now, having no issues in any maps I done thus far, I love it. Last edited by gr00grams#5298 on Jan 3, 2014, 5:17:13 PM
