What part of PoE is actually supposed to be fun?

The thrill of being the first league player to get to level 100

The satisfaction of knowing you have made hundreds of thousands of exalts in the first two weeks of league by gambling that 8-node large cluster jewels and mono Voices would be runaway essentials

The street cred and respect your peers in gaming give you for having 40/40 and a thriving sirus carry industry up and running in the first month of the league.

The honour and respect inherent in mashing 100% delirious t16 maps simply for the challenge, without backtracking to pick up a single reward. Virtue is its own reward ~

Seeing your name in gold at the top of the chat window for being the first to delve to XX,XXX in league. Everyone will be jostling to remember you, parents will want you to meet their daughters, because everyone knows 2000+ depth delving is only for real men. Dysfunctional snowflakes need not apply.

The self-confidence and pride you feel when you manage to craft something with a couple t2 affixes in SSF.

Good post, its true no matter if sarcastic or not, lol.

I can't imagine it not being a sarcastic jab at no lifers.

Some of Poe is a treasure hunting game, hunting that HH or Mirror or rare div cards or simpler things like exalted orbs and six link drops is fun.

Some of Poe is a gambling game. Saving up your currency and then "rolling" it to try to six link a special piece of armor or roll the perfect wand is fun.

Some of Poe is a problem solving game. Making up a build and reaching a certain point of success and running into a wall with it and trying to figure out how to further refine it to achieve even more success, this is fun.

Poe does these three things (treasure hunting game, gambling game, problem solving game) very very well, that's the key to the game's success imo.

Following a cookie cutter build with the simple goal of clearing all the end game content is probably not much fun, though I haven't personally ever tried playing that way.

Oooh don't forget the absolute very best part of PoE -

That feeling of gratitude and relief when you crash to desktop or get DC'd in a map during a betrayal encounter or delirium fog or monolith, and log back in, and you DIDN'T die in there after your screen froze.

What a rush!

What ever fun its for you ...

WHen the new master syste, were intruduced i didnt enjoyed it, but it was stacking about...

Currently i rly enjoy alva again and use it on every map and like every 3rd temple or so i visit...

Last Season i went for delving becasue it was fun, but with current monster life/dmg even 800 is kind of bs... went back when i am full on sulp for easy 200-400 depth

Crafted not long ago my first 2 chest with awenker orb one sold for 50ex the other one im using atm

currently i enjoy doing t7 burial with 4x sextant / 4xscarab and fracture fossil for 100% delerium maps

find something which you like and stick to it, also nobody force you do play league if oyu dont like the aspect that your currency vanish every 3-4 month... same like your progress or other things

the only time i have ever had fun in poe was when i found a headhunter
I get the most fun in PoE at league start. Starting over with a clean and empty stash, creating a character of my own from scratch and getting it to the end game. That whole process is the fun of it. Getting to 100 and 36-40 challenges is just the cherry on top and the message that this league is over for me, and that I should start waiting on the next one.
OP. You are just burnt out. At that point is time to move on. Come back if you find a league to be interesting enough to have fun in but don't expect the old content to intrigue you as much as it did before. It is just how gaming is.

Unless you like playing off-meta builds and make the best of it the game can seem overly repetitive. Mindless repetitive grinding has been and probably will always be the essence of arpgs. Doing so with the same character/build over and over gets boring pretty quick.

What one finds fun doesnt mean others will.

For me, slicing mobs like paper is fun.

Figuring how to slice them faster is fun.

Throwing a lot of traps and watch the exploding effect feels great.

Making that niche build that only serves to clear specific map mods feels good.

Yes there are also lots of stuff in poe that are frustrating and ridiculous, but life is a combo of good and bad, right?

Literally this. If you don't enjoy killing monsters then POE is not a good game for you. If you only see the killing as a means to be rewarded at the end you will lose motivation at some point because of the amount of luck involved. If you need rewards to be motivated to keep playing you're probably wrong here.
My two cents: PoE is pretty massive game so people might find different things fun. Accumulating wealth, min-maxing your character, leveling to 100, Atlas progression, bosses, experimenting with builds, Delving, crafting, completing challenges, racing, testing your skills in SSF and/or HC.

It's also completely fine to dislike grindy games or simply get bored of the game. For example, my brother loves ARPG/RPG games, but he can't understand the passion for endgame grind, endgame gearing up, min-maxing so as soon as he's done with the story and all the difficulities of an ARPG he's out.

What is personally fun for me in PoE? I find running maps and collecting shiny stuff somewhat relaxing. I also like seeing my wealth grow and my character becomming stronger and killing stuff easier.
To me it's funny to make builds and I enjoy the endless grind.

Also that insane feeling when you either craft or find something great

To me it sounds like poe isn't for you anymore.
