Why are you even opening global chat? Psychology question.

I just got silenced for hate speech for calling someone a [Removed by Support] so clearly the mods are doing their job. Problem is, I for one do not agree with chat censorship or even censoring hate speech. Besides the fact that it's free speech in my country, there's also an ignore button. Don't like what someone is saying? Smash that ignore button! Why should someone else be punished for your sensitivity? How can you get SO offended by someone who never seen you, who doesn't know you? Just ignore them, problem solved.

First 5 minutes i ever played this game back in like 2012-2013 and first things i see is all this shit about Blacks and Jews like pretty extreme shit.. like the kinda shit that might or might not get you punched in the mouth for saying around most people...

Simply turned it off and never looked back. join /Global 820 for trials each league and thats about it.

I view GC as a second abstract friend. I just start posting random crap that's on my mind while I'm leveling. Makes time go by faster and it's hilarious lol.

However, if there is any extremism crap going on, I usually switch to channel 2, 3, or 4. But if we are shitting on wolcen, d3, or marvel heroes.. I'm in

As someone mentioned, HC it is totally different, you get good advice, thoughtful tips, adult conversation (mostly). Does this mean edgelords suck at the game and almost none play HC? Probably.

HC community is more mature because well the peeps there ARE in fact older. Younger generation / young gamers & newcomers in PoE mostly play in SC trade leagues. In that sense, HC is a lot more chill

The only reason this stuff persists is because people have low context sensibility's.

Anybody with half a brain knows that a racist in global chat is in fact not racist but playing a meta game to see when people respond offended to get their dopamine rush.

As far as your "psychology" angle goes, its bunk.

Role-playing as a racist is exactly what somebody does who doesn't want to end up a racist, he's mastering the character-type so he can switch to it and away from it when desired.
It's called being a developed human being, just think of all the jank and stupid role-play you did when you were young.

There is the calm you, the focused you, the stressed you, the racist you, the passionate you etc etc.

The only people who lack compasion or empathy are the people who don't comprehend whats actually going on and want to stiffle the role-playing in a gaming context because they are oblivious to how they attained their own development.

People who take games and chats inside of them seriously beyond entertainment are the problem, not the edge lords and angsty teens, they are behaving perfectly normal in line with their age and development.

tl;dr they are being perfectly normal children pushing boundary's and making stupid mistakes like they should.

Global chat has always been an open-pit latrine, some times the mods actually do bring the hammer down on the biggest attention-seekers, but there's always more where the first came from.

820 for trials, rotas, and challenge completion. Or if you're in std, 820 for a highly-refined shitposting culture where we flex our synthesised +5 bows and multicrafted legacy items over a cup of tea drunk only with our pinkies extended in noblesse oblige.

If it's been really obnoxious of late, look at the news. Everyone's cooped up indoors, maybe the rent's paid maybe not, not a scrap of toilet paper, coffee ran out 2 days ago, public houses and bawdy-houses are closed, everyone getting on everyone else's nerves and no way to escape.

And that's the LIVING!

Cut people some slack. Tune it out. Change the channel. Make better friends.

Anonymity and immaturity are a match made in hell.

People, especially immature ones, love acting like assholes; but most of them dislike being seen doing it' or they are cowards. So doing it in random chats while safely staying at home is the perfect opportunity.
Also, attention whores, trolls, and similar types take advantage of it, and just blurt out random stuff, often with no ill intention; just for shits and giggles.
