in the end it's the internet and the "blessing" of being anonymous on the internet anyone can roleplay as the toughest guy, smartest guy or the most elitist piece of shit ever but they are nothing like that in real life..

And what do you want, everyone to congratulate you for being naive? If you accuse someone without proof and you do it in public, do you want them to congratulate you too? Do you know that it is against the rules to accuse others? Card skimmers are not the same as failing to check the trade window.

Card skimmers are designed to go unnoticed so the unsuspecting victim is completely unaware they're being violated, whereas the typical poe scam complaint is a result of someone not taking a few seconds to verify they are actually receiving what they intend to pay for or vice versa.

The trade window looks the same and everything in the transaction is in clear view. Card readers come in several variations and most of the actual hardware is concealed.

But really, the reason OP is getting more flack than not - is for generalizing the entire community based on one individual's negative experiences. All of us have had negative experiences, OP isn't alone in that by any means. However, most of us also acknowledge that while bad experiences are typically more memorable, it doesn't mean you completely disregard all the uneventful moments that went by without a hitch either.

You wouldn't judge an entire people based on their prisoners alone, so it doesn't make sense that you would judge an entire community based on its most deceitful players either.

OP was mad and feeling sleighted, and we've all been there. However, OP was so focused on his experience he stopped factoring in everyone else's, almost as if he was more important. Anyone who's spent a decent amount of time on-line should be aware that there are always assholes, and that sometimes those assholes our ourselves.

I've lost count of how often I've heard people who weren't satisfied in getting justice go on about how if that's the case they'll do it too. Plenty of folk get this sense of self-righteousness and eventually find themselves justifying the very behavior that bothered them in the first place.
