A Community Almost Completely Devoid of Sympathy and Empathy

Op, anything you want to claim is not something new. I am not one of the oldest but 6 years ago these same topics were seen in the forum. "The game is dead" is one of the most recurring themes along with the scammers. It is nothing new and the old forum guys get tired of seeing the same thing over and over again...

By the way, your topic is not new either.

I know it's not new. This isn't some revelation.

I refuse to let the topic die, which is why this isn't the first time I've posted a thread about this topic. It's a problem, and apparently, based on what you've said, I am not the only one who thinks so.

So if opponents of this topic to die, I won't let it. Opponents don't want to acknowledge the phenomenon encapsulated in the title of this thread as a problematic aspect of this community? I suspect it is a result of depravity and a calloused nature.

Phenomenon? What?... This is like others forums, nice people, troll people, ugly people. All united debating things, like every other forum. Sometimes you got good topics, sometimes bad topics. It's "human nature" and is not a rare "phenomenon".

Its farther than that. Not only is this type of interaction par for the course on pretty much every forum and blog on the internet, but it doesnt even being to take ownership for itself.

In the example "I dont like the direction of PoE" , is met with, "well you are free to leave and find a game you like" is both a fair interaction on its face (albeit devoid of good specific details), while also not conveying toxicity unless you take it that way (which is a personal choice)

Honestly OP it's the internet, what do you expect? If you start your browser you should be prepared to get flamed, insulted belittled or whatever. It's not nice but it's how humanity works. If you're not close enough to someone to punch him in the face when he says something stupid then he has no reason to be civilized or respectful so he won't.

It's also not like only the guys who want to change something get attacked. If you say you like the game as it is you will get flamed just as much.

You can call it cynical but after 20 years on the internet my experience does not allow for any other conclusion. Fighting against it is like trying to prevent the Sun from going down, you waste your time.

Perhaps I'm wasting my time, but perhaps I prevent the Sun from going down by only a millisecond. That would be enough for me.

A phenomenon doesn't have to be "rare". It's synonymous with occurrence. What's your point? I've never disagreed with you, so I don't understand what you're going on about.

Might be why you perceive others as "toxic" and "devoid of empathy".

I hope your an adolescent going true your "crussade" phase and i wish you all the best in the near future in your recovery from that.

It's how people are. Not just this community. If you browse some gaming subreddits like dota, OW, wow, gw2, poe as well, you'll see people saying the exact same words.
I don't think they want to defend the thing that OP is attacking, rather it's some sort of mindless aggression just for the heck of it. It's stupid, don't pay attention to stupid things some people do/say.
Can someone point out which way is the Hundred Acre Wood?
I prefer reddit to this forum. The most recent posts always get pushed to the top here, regardless of quality, and GGG allows personal attacks. This forum is actually a very bad barometer of the community.

It's far superior to what gets traction here.

MASSIVELY subjective.

On reddit very good ideas can be downvoted into oblivion, if for example, they dont like the poster. Trolling, griefing, stalking, ect... can be far worse.

The only way things get traction here is if people take the time to reply/bump.

I'm not saying it's perfect, it's not, but let's not celebrate reddit as the beacon of internet boards.
