"If something bad happened to you, its your fault"

They decided not to do roll back or other measures for hacking for game integrity. (I'm not making a judgment on the validity of doing so, just stating a fact)

- This is the reason, not because they are saying it's your fault.
- As long as it is not proven to be at their end, they don't really care how it happened, they are just applying a simple, clearly stated policy on the matter.

It is not bad customer support to apply a clearly stated policy, don't confuse bad support with not getting what you want.

Other games have their reasons to have different policies. MMOs want you to be happy and pay your monthly, D3 doesn't care about dupes because that's just more stuff to get sold and for them to collect their cut.

It looks like GGG's thinking is that their longevity is based on being a better controlled economy and trying to appeal to a niche group, or they just wanted to make a game they would like and if it makes money it makes money. If people do not like this, it would be wise to move on before investing too much time instead of hoping it will change to suit their needs. At least it was free

The problem is that the people who hack you or distribute malware cannot be held responsible (unless legal actions are taken, which usually cannot be done).

Instead of contacting GGG about getting hacked, you would be wiser formatting your PC, securing your online bank accounts etc. If I was hacked, my PoE items would be the least of my worries.

If the criminals cannot be held responsible and GGG cannot be held responsible, then YOU are the only person in question.

I didn't say anything about holding anyone responsible. Plenty of people do shitty things and never have to answer for them. That doesn't make it their victims' fault.

I get that it's really annoying having tons of threads complaining about being hacked pop up here all the time, many of them blaming GGG for the problem, but that still doesn't make it those people's fault they got hacked. They're just in a crappy situation with no easy resolution.
The fact that this is evolving into "getting hacked is your own fault" is a STRONG testament to the elitism going on here.

And I'd wager they're the Hardcore players.

^ By the way, there's a reason I capitalize Hardcore when referring to it - and it's not just for grammatical accuracy.

Sigh... since this thread is completely derailed anyway...

ShadyC, can you answer these questions:

1) Are some people more likely to be hacked than others?

2) Are the reasons for that controlled by the individual or only by some uncontrollable outside force?

3) If you know some people's accounts are hacked, and the devs/community give everyone tips/advice on how to prevent that happening to you and you don't follow those steps and are later hacked, would you regret not following that advice?

4) Do you believe everything people say on the internet?
