Its a kind of artistic freedom...so if you dont want it you dont have to use it.

thirdly:
It is not real!
Don´t angry, just wondering!
There have been so many good points made in this thread that it would be unnecessary to repeat them, so I will merely add a bit of data to the discussion.

The dead babies in question are part of the random terrain generation, not a fixed backdrop. The first time I spotted one was with my 7th or 8th character, and I found 3 at different orientations across the map.

Perhaps a compromise can be made, with a warning pop-up on entry to an instance which "May contain nuts, spiders, and/or dead babies"

Realistically, I am one who will buy the more gore option when it is available, but would much rather see resources devoted to more content, if given the choice .

What the hell is the problem? Really? Dead baby on a beach in a video game is a problem?!!? Its god damn selling point!!! My only complaints about the dead baby on the beach is that i cant rez it as a zombie and that i cant make more dead babies myself. Originally i was promoting a secret kiwi level with a Krazed Kiwi King boss. But now i want a dead baby level.
I love how we as a society have somehow convinced ourselves that bad things happening to babies is somehow worse than if the same experience were being had by a full grown human. I get that its part of our evolutionary programming, but shouldnt we have evolved past this kind of rediculousness the moment we became aware of this fact?
just a thought... since PoE will be free to download/play (so a kid can easily purchase it) and parents usualy cant monitor the kids all the time, kids 11-14 years old at least, shouldnt see dead babys.

kids at that age knows that zombies, huge spiders and all the other monsters, are just fantasy, but dead babys is something "real" that i dont realy think kids should see.

beside the kids, i dont think PoE or any other game needs to show dead babys to be dark, they are more effective ways, dead babys is a cheap way.

pardon me, but so is porn or wikipedia. so the consequence of one´s inability to watch for his children would be to censor society as a whole ?

in my opinion leaving a child unmonitored with a pc/internet connection is as bad as letting him play on a highway at rush hour, or balancing on a chair atop a roof. it just goes without saying that a parent is responsible, and solely responsible for the well-being for his child.
and if some individual aint fit to prevent his offspring from harm, then he or she shouldn't procreate in the first place.

i`m not responsible for the mental well-being of someone elses child and i certainly couldn`t care less, even if this might sound cold or harsh.

it is just common sense that pornography aint quite suitable for infants and no one screams for censorship considering the porn industry. (mainly because everyone likes to spank his monkey once in a while i guess =) )
but it´s ok to water down a video game with mature content so 9 year old jonny won´t be left a deranged sociopath ?

sorry no sympathy from me.

You fucking nailed it. I'm so sick of parents blaming video games for their inability to educate and protect their children. You can't handle the heat, don't go close to the fire.

Not really a game for 9 year old kids this.

Also that's not a dead baby, that's a baby doll.
Which belonged to a child that was eaten by sharks.
But that happened off screen, so we're cool.

Ya I saw that kid on the ground I was like, Wtf in #, and they explained.. I love that the community has created a back story of this "doll".

Why exactly should a kid not see a dead baby? Im not trolling. Its a serious question. If the job of a parent is to prepare the children for adulthood, your already failing pretty bad if you think that showing children the possible bad outcomes of thier decisions is not apropriate.
The whole reason young people tend to engage in high risk behaviour is because they live lives without any real consequence. If a child never has the opportunity to understand what your trying to keep it safe from, it will only resent rather than respect your interference in its life.
If i was ever irresponcible enough to have a kid, i would be showing it prison, morgue's, the DMV. All the places you can find the worst of consequences. Kids need to understand just how much life plays for keeps. Simply telling them it does doesnt cut it.

Just because POE is free doesn't mean it should be censored. If parents don't want kids playing games with dead babies in them, than they shouldn't let them play them. You can't force parenting on other people. If you can't spend 10 minutes on a game making sure it is safe for your kid to play than you shouldn't have a kid. Play the game for a bit and look for reviews online. A 2 min google search lead me to THIS thread. Another search contained,"... to games with graphic violence and visceral depictions of exploding entrails." in googles preview. NOT HARD TO DO AT ALL.
