If my face becomes like this when playing becouse of gore, that means GGG did a fucking great job.
Ew, I don't actually want to be disturbed by disturbing imagery!

Couldn't they just have a little text box pop up, describing (with the option to redact certain, offensive words) the scene before your blood-drenched Templar?

Tell, don't show, people!

P.S. yes, this is indeed a ham-handed attempt at satire.
How about an automatic censor screen? Everytime something happens, this pops up.

Then you die. Which is censored too.
If GGG chickens made an action RPG, what would it be called? Path of Eggxile, a Peck 'n' Slash RPG.
Why was the helmet spluttering? It was a coif.
Love your work Hyaon.
hi folks,

this is probably not the best thread for a first post, but then again it´s about the most catchy one so far.

not being a native speaker, please be gentle about any typos you might find =)

as much as i could understand the op's request, if it was a game suitable for kids to a certain age, that is if 16 would still be regarded as "childhood", i totally miss the point of such an option in a game clearly addressed to adults.

the number of games with an adult theme has clearly diminished over the past few years, age of conan being one example, compared to the rest of the mmo world.

the reason i´m writing here in the first place, is that i´ve been looking for an alternative for diablo 3s rather cartoonish look, what is still providing that certain "diablo-feeling".

so it is by coincidence that i stumbled over path of exile, which caught my attention by its mature, rough and dark look.

and it`s exactly that kind of design and atmosphere that creates a believable world hence an enjoyable gaming experience.

it is beyond me why for example a few years ago mortal children in video games where totally normal (fallout i.e) whereas today people make such a fuss about it.

at least in my opinion, if a ship sinks and people drown, so do toddlers and old people alike. kids being immortal in a video game totally kills every trace of immersion. see skyrim or fallout(new vegas) for that matter. and while i see no reason to actively kill them in these games it makes those games feel a little bit more convincing, to have some children among the victims of a dragon/raiders attack, and not seeing them walking around happily and joyfully amidst the corpes of their parents.

whether it's actually a doll or a childrens corpse is of little importance, what is however, is that the developers should be granted the utmost freedom of choice to create an impressive, convincing and coherent gaming experience that has been addressed to and developed for ADULTS.

and sometimes us "red-pixel" fanatics want to have tossed a bone or two as well =)

Hear, hear! And might a say what a mighty command of the English language for one who claims it as an alternate language.

To be honest, this thread is probably the most entertaining on the whole board for me. It's not that I'm against the option to censor certain content, as long as it's something GGG has been considering all along. What's the harm in asking, after all? But the dark, Diablo 1-esque tone is what originally drew me to this game.
I actually would find abusing cretures with huge spiky mauls more disturbing if no blood came out. Gore is reality and it's just part of our anatomy like skin and hair etc. but only inside us. Sometimes it comes out and that's just unfortunate but it doesn't mean we can't have as matter of fact view on it as a pathologist performing an autopsy. Especially when it's pixels. We even eat gore everyday, when you think that the bloody steak you're about to eat was once a muscle in a cows ass like your own ass muscle it's quite interesting

Point is, gore itself isn't bad. It's natural. But like many things it can be used tastefully and distastefully. There are good slasher films and bad ones. Lumping them all together as bad just because of gore is ignorant. Good use of gore is using it to convey something deeper than just "look here my guts are hanging out" like all those Saw movies

I think one intact and unbloody doll looking dead baby on a beach is about as tasteful as a dead baby can be. It simply sets a more no nosense atmosphere, which I personally would categorize as more art than crap
