Crashes, 5700 XT AMD Issue?

The day before yesterday, after rebooting my system following a crash, my computer turned on for a second, switched off and I smelled something burning.

I took my system apart, went through everything and saw no sign of damage. I put it back together today and it seemed to boot up fine..

There is no way this crash could fry something in my hardware unless something was already faulty or damaged, right?

No, if there are any hardware issues, they would be preexisting.

Hey all,

Sorry for the lack of updates regarding this problem.
We're currently working on a fix for this and will have it deployed as soon as we can.
We can't give a specific ETA, as things may get delayed. But it's definitely a top priority at the moment and we're doing everything we can, as quickly as we can.

Is it possible to get any confirmation on the status of the Vulkan fix and where that stands on terms of service? I tried messaging support but they were unable/unwilling to provide an answer. I would love to be able to play the league mechanic but don't want to risk my account.

Hope the fix doesn't affect the vulkan support, first time this game runs so smoothly

Don't worry, the vulkan "workaround" will work even after patching, so if it is really an improvement for you, you can stay on it. But still I need to tell you that if you encounter any issue while using it (dissapearing drops, deleted chars, computer squeaking Macarena through pc speaker), the GGG will not help you :)

The BSOD or driver crash happens to protect your system. If your system loses control of some part of it´s hardware, it goes down and reboots, to reclaim control, to put it simple.

Therefore, it is very unlikely something like that can happen. But to make sure, just look for dark spots on your CPU or GPU chip. If you do so, make sure to apply new cooling aid afterwards.

The smell btw. could just be some dust or hair that got burned.

Btw. putting a GPU in the oven is a common way to fix faulty cards, I have done that several times, not once did it damage the chipset. These chips go way above what we see during production process.

Todays Hardware is pretty tough, not like back in the days, where even turning the lights on while the PC did boot, could fry it. :D

Please, don't suggest people to put their graphics cards in an oven.
LOL putting IT gear in a oven to "fix" things.....

I dont see the point where EEEEEEEH Macarena AYE might be an issue :D
I've played daily since league start and my game just started freezing today. The screen is frozen but I can mouse over my skills and still interact with most things. I can't log out to the char selection screen but I can log out to the log on screen. Radeon 550, is it time to upgrade?

just opened task manager and see my gpu is running at 100% while standing in my hideout, is that normal? I've never had a problem before

This might seem funny to you, but it actually has merit and it is commonly used. The reasoning behind is that if there is a cold joint, putting it in the oven will basically melt the solder and during cooling it will make proper new joint (this is also known as "reflowing"). There are actually even specialized ovens used by computer repair shops (look for reflow oven), designed for this.

In any case, this is something that normal user should not ever do, because it is extremely risky.
Anyone else having problems with your monitor after a crash? When my game crash, I have a black screen for a couple of seconds, but my programs are still running (music / youtube ) and then I get a pop-up: no signal detected. My cables are plugged in perfectly though (double checked). No faulty PC components (new build) and running the newest drivers.
