[3.8] FACETANK EVERYTHING - COC DISCHARGE, ELDER / SHAPER DOWN

Hello Exiles.

[3.8]

In 3.8 this build got a massive buff. Now you can facetank everything.
The gear im using in the 3.8 videos is not even optimized. You can get +1
endurance charge from oiling amulet, and you can get to 100% crit chance
if you craft 'Increased Critical Strike chance' on the weapon.
The facetanking im doing in these videos also does not use any gem or
flask swapping. Lastly, the chest piece is completely free to use for extra utility, i put in flame dash + faster casting, but there are many more
possibilities for utility.

[Build mechanics]
The build uses Kingsguard for heavy 'life leech', but this means that we need
to reliably gain power charges from something other than Volls. To do this
we use double
with '#% chance to gain a Power Charge on Critical Strike', along with a lvl 20 Power Charge on Crit support. This is enough to reliably gain power charges.

For extra damage, the '#% chance that if you would gain Power Charges, you instead gain up to your maximum number of Power Charges' makes a huge difference.

Because we always have 6 endurance charges, immortal call works very well improving the survivability by a lot.

We also rely on 'Second Sight' (Brutal Restraint, Nasima) which gives us 25% more melee critical strike chance at no cost at all.

[CoC in general]
If you are new to CoC, read CheeQu's excellent guide, he explains *everything* you need to know https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2285205

For those on this thread that are like me and don't play enough to afford things like the crafted weapon, but want to try out a cheaper version of this build that still works pretty good. Let me share what I learned in making a cheap version of this build uber-elder viable. To give you an idea of my level of play, I have never killed uber elder, but I've come close a couple times. I have not gotten to uber elder yet this season, but I just killed the guardians, and spawned him. My son has killed him with my characters in the past, so my characters are usually good enough to defeat him (but not easily), and I'm just not that great at playing/avoiding the damage, so I need tanky builds like this one to have a chance.

So here is my gear:

I had tried Cospris Malice and it was terrible as a cheap option. The crit chance on it is too low and that killed the build. The key to the cheap weapon is two things. As high a base crit as possible, and 1.5 attacks per second because with my tree, helm, and the elusive passive, that gives me exactly 6.06 aps. I don't have the expensive belt with cooldown.

I dont have a watcher's eye yet, and I just got brutal restraint which definitely boosted my dps as crit chance is the most important stat on this build in my experience. I also crafted two of these flasks which helped a lot as I was trying to get my crit chance up.

So to summarize my cost:

Wep - 5c
Rings - 100c each
Chest - 30c
Amulet - 35c
Shield - 20c
Rest of gear - around 10c per item max

Brutal restraint - 2.8ex - got this recently.

No enlighten lvl 4 yet, so I'm not running zealotry yet.

Something I almost screwed up on - make sure the rings don't have a fire damage mod. Some of the frenzy mods add fire damage which would screw up the elemental eq. The only mod that matters is the max power charges one, just make sure the other ones don't do something bad like add fire damage. And usually you want those mods to be crappy so that the ring is cheaper.

This cheap version of the build obviously doesn't crush it the way the expensive one does, but it is good enough to delve to 200+, defeat the blight on level 16 maps, and defeat the guardians (and hopefully uber elder), and it is super tanky and I rarely die.

Hope this helps those who like the looks of this build but like me can't afford some of the gear listed.

And thanks to Rumblepie for this build as it is a lot of fun to play.

Nice build. Looks very expensive though. Gues around 20 ex at least to even get started.

Everything but the rings can be gotten for about 5ex i would say. That includes crafting a sword like mine. The armor i bought 6 linked for 30c. However, the rings are the difficult ones to get, and the reason for that is not that they are extremely rare, its more because not a lot of people use them. Part of the reason i post this build is that i hope more people will play CoC and make these rings, so that there will be more of them on the market :)
Is there any way to play this on a 1-2 ex budget and transition to the final build later when you farmed some more currency?
1-2 ex is not possible, the cheapest you can do is to just replace the rings with something else, and then use Cospris Malice and Lycosidae.
Hi mate, I like this old style coc discharger, just a question:
Why u use flesh and stone?
For the cooldown?
If yes, are you sure it works as global reduction and not only for the cooldown of sand and blood stance alternation?
For blind?
Thank you

Hello there. I use it because of the usefulness of blind (50% evade) and the less damage taken from enemies further away.
Any reason you have changed from staff to sword?

The staff was chosen because of some very good and very needed crit nodes. However, now that im playing Assassin, i dont need that extra crit chance, and instead i can use a sword with CoC + Fortify, which essentially is an 8 link.
cheap version of the weapon?
