WoW Classic is a threat to our community?

I have a set of friends that get together every league (There is like 10 of us with our own guild and we hang out and play POE for 1.5-2.5m of every league.) We were talking about the new league and one of them mentioned that this player base that POE has gotten recently, will be diminshed by a large margin from the launch of WoW Classic, Especially with the league starting less then 2 weeks after the launch of WoW classic...

What do you guys think? Will this league be alot less active due to WoW classic or is he just crazy and the players will stay?

I have thought long and hard about WoW classic as I started just before BC.
I *might* try it out but PoE holds more interest for me.

As to whether or not it will grab players from here is hard to say.

It might take a lot of people for some time, but most of them will quickly go back. Only people that actually played and loved old WoW will stay there.
Launch of Lost Ark in next year is way bigger threat.

Yea... I guess it is. POE definitely is where it is at for me. I never even considered WoW classic being a issue for POE but he mentioned it and a few others felt the same so maybe it is just all the hype around it in the gaming community in general or they are just fanbois =P
Im yet to be convinced that WoW Classic will have any relevant longevity. Pretty sure lots of people will get in and get tired of it fast, maybe realising it was nostalgia driving them, not WoW being a good game today.

Yea i agree with this 100% 1 month, 3 months, i fully expect waves of dropping off points, especially since i played vanilla and i wouldn't wish that experience on my worst enemy.

Well i didnt even play it, but i remember full well that many, many people complained about the horrible drop chances/rng and huge time investment needed to achieve anything of value back then. Never got why people would want that again.
Another thing i dont get, is how are they supposed to add new content? Since its vanilla, addons like BC should be out of question.
For me its just Activision baiting people with nostalgia generated from Blizzards older, good trademarks yet again and so many are happilly biting.

Yeah, this is what I can see happening as a most likely scenario.

I think getting rid of anyone here that would consider playing WoW would be a boon rather than a threat.

Shit man, money is money.
