Scammed out of 16.3 Exalted Orbs. I feel sick. This has ruined my day.

Being scammed sucks - I have been on the receiving end of the ol' switcheroo in D2C when the scammer swapped the SOJ for another crap item. In my excitement - I accepted the trade. This was before the "grey" out timer when they move items around the trade box.

It sucked - but it was my fault.

Imagine GGG banning the scammer and returning your orbs. Immediately people would try to find ways to game the system with fake scams and refunds. GGG simply cannot police all transactions. They do not have the time nor resource to do so.

They have a consistent policy. And that policy is no-name-and-shame in all circumstances. Of course this could reek of being entirely unfair, but like in the real world, we have to accept some responsibility ourselves. And the truth is you messed up. Their system is not perfect, but ultimately it was you who pressed the accept button. I'm sorry for your loss but you would learn from this if not in game, then in real life.

Man, there are people who get off on this kind of thing. Their values & perceptions are so backwards that it doesn't hurt their dignity, it gives them a thrill & it's something they'll brag about openly.

Sorry about your diagnosis i hope that you get better, But i don't think GGG should hold peoples hands with scamming unless its people stealing there accounts for instance. Back in the 90's when online games where becoming a thing there where a lot of games where they dident hold your hand incase you where scammed.

I perssonaly chose not to scam because i like having friends and in games like this friends and being trustworthy comes with many advantages.

Not long ago maybe a few months back i was scammed by my friend and guild leader they took many items worth hundreads of exalts. (I'm not in that specific guild anymore)

but at the time i was also angry and wanted them banned or some sort of justice but ofc nothing would happen to them.

They lost most of there guild members and maybe a friend or two but that's it.

So i know how it feels to have that sick to your stomack feeling about being scammed and twice as much in this case because i thought they where my friend the worst type of scammer the long con so to say.

i still feel that i dont want GGG holding my hand in cases like this.

The best thing you can do and that you have already done is post it on reddit. So the poe community can police itself by not trading with these people witch i think is how it should be.

They certainly don't seem to be helping people be more careful.

Or maybe that's the point. Maybe they're just scammers posting stuff like this so that people think it's normal. Hard to tell.

These threads do encourage the scammers, because they prove how no matter how high value you go for the scam someone will fall for it :p

Indeed. I've also noticed a big increase in scam attempts.

But it is only natural. Seems to be no risk high reward. Spending fusings on sixlinking have higher risks than scamming it seems.

tbh i doubt anyone would look at the account name really. character name well just create a new nobody would notice.

best thing to do is not get scammed in the first place.
