Scammed out of 16.3 Exalted Orbs. I feel sick. This has ruined my day.
I have a feeling that nothing will come of this but I need to post something.
I was (in my opinion) scammed out of 16.3 exalted orbs today. It was the classic scam where they put up a card (the doctor card in this case) and then switch it out for a worthless card. I'm doing hundreds of trades every day and just flick the mouse over the items most of the time. I realize that “the trade system is full proof” and that “scams are impossible as both parties are required to check all items before clicking accept”. But after so many trades and hours of game play I made a mistake. I feel so sick. This has literally ruined my day. I don't even want to play anymore. I know in games like WoW this would be fixed. I realize that every person is paying to play WoW so that service is more realistic. It sucks that, even though I have purchased Vanguard Supporter and Cult of the Apocalypse Supporter packs ($220 USD) since the start of 3.7, this scammer probably won't even be banned for this toxic behavior and I will never get my orbs back... I was planning on purchasing the last 2 core supporter packs as more items went on sale in the store that I wanted, but now I just wish I had my money back... This experience has poisoned all the fun I was having playing this game. I was going to get a headhunter today... now I'll need to spend another 16+ hours farming to get back to where I was before. I don't understand why GGG can't remove the orbs from this scammer and give them back to me? I am trying to let them know that not fixing these issues is losing their company money and negatively affecting their reputation. These large trade scams are worth your company's time and money to fix. As a side note... I had planned on making a post about how much I loved GGG and PoE before this happened. I have been diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and have been in and out of the hospital since September getting chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. I played PoE a lot during that time and it was great for taking my focus away from what was happening. There is so much good about GGG and overall I love them. But this has really... really... put a huge black mark on things... tldr: This scammer (and GGG not fixing things) has made me feel more sick in my body than the extremely powerful chemotherapy drugs given to you (prior to bone marrow transplant) that completely destroy every stem cell in your bone marrow. Scammers account is: -redacted- Scammers character is: -redacted- It would mean a lot to me if someone from GGG posted something... anything... p.s. Check your trades. This will get worse as POE grow in popularity. The scammers I’ve reported to GGG still have their accounts years after. So I’ve given up. It’s their policy call to decide the impact said policy will have on their long term bottom line.
It will convert your forum titles into decorative square badges that use the space next to your forum posts more economically so that you can show off an unlimited number of them at any one time. - GGG, 2018 (https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3573673)

I kept out the scammers name and account info here. I knew that wouldn't be allowed. But Rory took out all the images for some reason. They were all heavily redacted of all personal information.
It was just a paper stating my medical diagnosis, a pic of me in the hospital, a pic of my character and the worthless card and a pic of the dates and amounts of my PoE purchases in June. Check out the Reddit post to see them. [Removed by Support] Last edited by Al_GGG#0000 on Jul 3, 2019, 10:23:37 PM

A man who's grown tired of looking for glass shards in his food is a man grown tired of life.
Er... Sure, you said you trade a lot, but 10+ ex seems to be a lot even for you. So you should always be careful at least with the more valuable trades. Sorry you had to learn that the hard way. And no, I don't like the trade system that is in place, neither. Bird lover of Wraeclast

" If it is that big of a deal for you(which would be understandable) you have options to get your rl currency back. For them it is still business as both of you payed them. |

Thre's a good chance that other guy also spent a lot on the game. If he did, I'm sure he would be a lot more pissed than you are now if he got banned for someone willingly giving him an assload of exalts.
Need a new signature, cuz name change. I dunno though. I guess this seems fine. Yeah, this is good.

It blows my mind how someone could value in game pixels over their dignity. Sorry for the loss, some people lose any semblance of decency when theyre online.

If he swapped out the card for a worthless one, you get a 5 second timer while the accept button for the trade is greyed out. So even though 16 exalts are worth so much to you, you didn´t take that time to check the card? Didn´t this appear suspicious to you? Swapping or canceling the trade should ring your alarm bells. If you then simply accept the trade, even though it´s such an important transaction, it is actually your own fault.... Scammers will always be part of any game. Sorry for your experience, though... in the end, it´s still only a game with no actual impact on your real life, as long as you don´t allow it to become that important.
EDIT: not defending the scammer here, I am totally for banning accounts for that kind of behaviour - but with Photoshop & co it´s so easy to even fake "proof screenshots" that I´d doubt they will ever go there. Last edited by IamLoco#3766 on Jul 2, 2019, 3:17:54 AM
