RMT site bought that currency rate site
" O.M.G. This implies the decision to censor <that site> was undertaken by the Mods. If this is the case then it really will be a case of the lunatics running the asylum as mods are unpaid amateurs with nothing at stake if their decisions screw up the game. I actually can not believe that is the case, but if it is.... . Mod Edit: Removed name of site. Also...TIL I'm a lunatic. Last edited by MonopolyLegend#6284 on Mar 13, 2013, 4:09:16 PM

meh he actually agreed with their decision since the site did in fact have RMT adds, he just wasn't aware of the situation by the sounds of it

@Altadoc:
Obviously I'm biased on the matter, but I'd say we've done a fairly decent job so far. Every decision we make is available to all of the GGG staff if they wish to peruse; some actively do so, some don't. It's not like we're meeting in back alleys discussing anarchy, lol. As for having nothing to lose...well, I rather like my account, post history, reputation, etc. :p The forums are as much a part of the game as the game itself is to me. I could take another server wipe in game, but it'd be too much trouble to rebuild myself on the forum. |

We did not probate on the forum the person who owned the site at all, all we did was ensure for 6 days that the ad was gone and not coming back. When that 6 days was up, it was over and allowed back on the forums as per usual.
All of the mods take our positions VERY seriously and would not do something to hurt GGG. We all respect each and every person on the GGG team, quite passionately and try very, very hard to work as a team to ensure we reflect nicely on GGG. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

" Agreed, in general you guys do a great job. This decision however is a total failure in every possible way. Since the last straw that broke the camels back and made the owner of <that site> sell his site to a RMT house was caused by a Mods actions. BTW. Love the way you censor the mention of <that site> from one of GGG's developers quotes. Censoring your own developers quotes now are you? . |

Sure, he said himself he'd have okayed it if asked. What goes on on Reddit is different than what goes on in GGG's own website and forum. If GGG has an issue with my (or any other moderator's) actions, I'm sure they'll let us know.
Also, from what I understand, it wasn't just moderators giving him trouble - people were harping on him for basically being the man behind the curtain of our economy. Had he been corrupt, it would be a relatively simple matter to manipulate it to his advantage or worse put some malicious software on the site (which an enormous majority of the playerbase uses) - something that's still entirely possible, especially now with it being owned by an already sketchy service (third-party RMT). Because it is now owned by (and openly advertising) a RMT service, it's being treated like any other RMT service. Last edited by MonopolyLegend#6284 on Mar 13, 2013, 4:29:56 PM

we all knew this was coming at least for a week now if not more..
its going to be hell trying to censor all the "site name" posts that come up.. i already called the site in question going RMT im calling it now, forums flooded with what happened to "site name".. all i can do is shake my head at the influx of BS thats coming Things with "increased" and "decreased" in the tooltip are additive ... where as "More" or "Less" are multiplicative ...

What point, exactly, does the censorship serve? It has always seemed to me that when damage control takes on draconian forms, the damage is just increased.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.

I just hope this won't affect the legit players in the future...

Honestly, b15h09, that is a touchy question in a way. I'll give you my viewpoint on it, but if other moderators wish to chip in, they're welcome to do so.
1) Show that we don't condone RMT in any way whatsoever - references to RMT don't belong on this forum/game. 2) By making the website a bit of a "taboo," hopefully people will learn to be less reliant on it - this alone would not have been a huge issue if it weren't for the current situation with the new owner/advertisements. |
