I still dont dare to log back in, might skip tonight grind and catch on series inestad..
I play games to have fun, not to be annoyed with crashes/lag spikes.. already face that day 1-3 of this league.. "Parade your victories, hide your defeats. Mortals are so insecure."
Once you break the cycle of fear no angels or demons can whisper you their sweet nothing words. poe0.2/10. Nuff said. |

I just came back from a long break and made a new Templar for Legion and was going to post about how much fun I was having... Then I came across this thread. Looks like I have a lot to look forward to once I get into endgame stuff.
Remember when I won a screenshot contest and made everyone butt-hurt? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

" my thoughts exactly. i'm torn between skipping the first two weeks of future leagues and uninstalling this bugfest entirely. i'm glad i didn't buy the apocalypse pack. |

The patch to revert the patch didn't fix everything that the patch broke. My damage went up by like 30% without me doing anything on cyclone slayer (who knows why) and the game uses twice as much memory now and runs like dogcrap. It's pretty sad.

" Having worked as a programmer and architect for ~10 years in game development and ~10 in corporate software development, my anecdotal experience is that a lot of programmers/engineers don't realize just how much more challenging game development is (especially for a game of this scale). There are exceptions, of course, but they are exceedingly rare. Working on even pretty complex business software is so different that many development best practices translate poorly, if at all. There are certainly some aspects of corporate software development (practice and process alike) that can be fully or partially applied, and I am not saying game developers can't learn from others. It's also a good thing for game developers to get some perspective from how business-critical systems are handled in other industries. But to be somewhat blunt, a game like PoE has a codebase with a complexity far beyond what 99% of "regular" software engineers and project managers will ever encounter. Chris and crew are humble and great people, so they're being nice and not calling out people. To be even more blunt, someone who isn't working with game development (of similar scale and complexity) themselves is likely to be akin to a coach of an amateur teen football team giving advice to the coach of a top Champions League team. Yes, they are similar roles and the rules are the same, but the nature of the job and the challenges involved make it obvious that the amateur coach doesn't really have a leg to stand on when it comes to handing out advice. |

this is kind of ridiculus because i was not able to play at league start (getting crash at entering zones etc) and i decided to wait till some fixes will occur. so now i am reading forums and reddit and it comes out that the major bug and crash fixing patch didnt fix shit and moreover, made things much worse. well done devs. when i bought supp packs i actually was expecting that i will be able to play the game.

First, I start once again by saying I absolutely love this game.
However, it saddens me constantly to see how slipshod some of the business decisions are. Unpopular though it may be, I have to state that I think things have definitely taken a turn for the worse in terms of reliability since "the takeover". I also cannot help but think that this is partially also a reason behind the aggressive release schedule and the lack of proper testing that is going into patches. It also saddens me to see the release from the CEO on the subject on Reddit last night. Whilst I have the greatest admiration and respect for him, I also think that release was entirely political. To say that the patch was fully green and that itself posed some questions was, frankly, a little insulting to those of us with intelligence. When you look at that statement, you should ask yourself "really?". Why haven't those questions been raised before, when the countless other patches that have broken game content over the last year been released? No, this is not an unusual incident for our Devs, it's only a slightly worse example than usual. The fact remains, that new leagues seem to be released with way too many bugs that occur during "normal" game play, and then patches are rushed out that also break content. This has been happening for a LONG time now. The time for statements would seem to be long past. Now is the time for some hard thinking and actually changing the underlying circumstances that lead to all this rushed content. I loved Path of Exile.
I do not love Path of RNG. Bloom gives me migraines, the over usage of darkness strains my eyes. Save our game, remove all of the constant RNG and allow us to turn off Bloom or give us an in game brightness control! |
