What a patch...

Asking out of despair mostly... Can't they rollback to previous edition(3.7.0 or whatever was it), and release a proper patch later on?
That will highly depend on how they manage their source code and if the patch included any significant changes to their DB structures. Some changes are much easier to roll back than others. A surprising amount of harm can be done with a single bad script.
Im really curious how dense the code base is if testing did not reveal all these issues on their test servers.

Right? How the hell did this get through QA in the first place?
1000 hours.
Been in game for about 20m now. No crashes. But Herald of Purity cuts in and out. I have to keep activating it. That's about it.

edit: ha! not 30 seconds after posting I crashed.
And the white guys says, I'll have a Coke then.

Had a few crashes, slowdowns, etc.. but as of 5 minutes ago, i did a Vaal instance inside Lunaris Temple..finished instance, killed boss, loot Vaal items.. go back through teleporter.. *crash*.

Ok.. restart game, select character, enter game... *crash* x 2
ooooook.. test..login on a different character... works just fine.

So i guess my character is stuck in "limbo" for the time being.. hopefully that'll just be for 5 minutes until the server sorts itself out, and not for the next 3 weeks :)

What QA? Have you been here long? This is hardly an unusual occurrence. Welcome to the world of a PoE player. It's fantastic while it works, but it's best to have something else to do on patch day after patching, as invariably every patch breaks something...........

It just so happens that this is one of the greatest patches we've seen for a while. This time they managed to break everything :p

One day in the distant future, when we're all going about our daily lives in our anti-gravity cars, and taking holidays to Mars, GGG will finally employ a QA team :)
I loved Path of Exile.
I do not love Path of RNG.
Bloom gives me migraines, the over usage of darkness strains my eyes.
Save our game, remove all of the constant RNG and allow us to turn off Bloom or give us an in game brightness control!
Where the hell is the Alpha team and testing that is done before the challenge league starts. I know PoE is massively complicated code and all with so many combinations possible but come on, we (all players) shouldn't be your beta-testers each and every challenge league start. This has gotten very old and tiresome to either have to play a super buggy PoE every challenge league start or skip playing until the inevitable major bug fix patch is pushed out. It's great that GGG does fix their bugs as fast as they do but the crashes and dc's that happen during the first week of any new league is terrible. No one would want to pay for a faulty product so why does GGG expect us to have to play such a buggy PoE. Please GGG, rework your 13 weeks per league formula to be further ahead of the time curve to allow for longer internal beta-testing please.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Agreed, things have been SO much better since they adopted the more aggressive release schedule.

They won't back down on the frequency of releases (nothing to do with sales of mtx or packs, obviously), so we have to put up with an increasing decline in quality of product.

Enough is enough, make the bloody leagues longer, and start actually testing patch releases!!!
