New PoE Code of Conduct change also applies to Global Chat

This is cool as gaming should be just that.

Also I guess my forum name may eventually get flagged. If that would be so can a GGG staff give me some leniency? Jesus is after all a fine name.
Cannot for the life of mine figure out why anyone would applaud censorship of their communication channels.

All the more reason not to use chat and just communicate via copy&paste phrases. I.e: "Hi, I want to buy Your XY listed for ABC on XYZ" and "t4t". Lest I accidentally say something "inflammatory". Because god forbid we have any kind of stimulating discussion in a chat.

It is pretty simple , people wanna jump into the Game and Interact with the Community and chat about Builds asking Questions and Helping New Players , no one cares about the Political State of your Country nor does anyone care about your Religion or Sexual Orientation , this is Basic Logic there , your Post is pretty much Blasphemy and you should use your Brain the next time a little bit , if you can not handle this Rule or Code of Conduct change then go look for a other game where you can troll around , or stay and go by the Code of Conduct and DEAL WITH IT .
Toucan will not be happy.

You've really jumped to a big conclusion that they are moderating individual conversations, which there is no reason to believe that is the case. You can certainly say anything you want to someone and most decent individuals know when they've crossed the lines.

To speak directly to your example, has it every crossed your mind to inject politics or religion while trying to buy an item from someone? I'm not saying that should be against the TOS; I just don't see that being slightly natural or in the flow of a negotiation.

"I offer 3c for your item, and oh by the way, the flying spaghetti monster blablabla."

That's just not natural.

Or maybe you're assuming a slippery slope and soon we won't be able to say anything to each other. That's also a big leap and commonly used to fight against even the most common sense of rules and laws.
Thanks for all the fish!

Define "inflammatory subjects" to me please.

As stated in the CoC currently.

Are we allowed to make auction house threads? How about labyrinth threads?
What if a nerf comes around that riles up the community.

I don't even have to mention off-topic subjects to make my point, that in itself should be telling of how broad a blanket definition they are using in this new line.

And then the next terms, religion and politics, so are we able to discuss cultural and social evolutions of deep time? How about morality or spirituality.

It's a censor free-pass without any upside for the community since the previous CoC already covered the basic "don't be a d***" issues.

Peace,

edit : Hilarious moderation, you *** letters and it still gets removed while using a common english expression.

Yeah, it would suck to have criticism locked down here... since feedback on forums and in general chat was such an effective means of giving feedback and promoting change that GGG totes listened to before this point /s

I mean, I understand the concern... but aside from complaints that GGG never listens to anyway getting locked more frequently, what exactly would change?
Actually I have no problem with the prohibition of discussing politics in a videogame. Never used the chat for that, either. BUt there are three things bothering me:

1) That GGG follows the footsteps of political correctness. With the new changes it all gets better and easier, but i fear that those technical changes as well as "archetype"-bullshit etc. is not a coincidence together with political correctness-stuff.

2) The Term "discussion of inflammatory topics" is too washy. If there is really some kind of pressure from Tencent, i would call this censorship. PoE is Entertainment, i get that, but it should be the players choice, what he does with it, as long as people have the choice to get rid of trolls e.g. by simply blocking them.

3)But the most worrying thing for me is that there are so many conformist people simply taking those changes for granted, so they can further stay in their turtle house and finding excuses for why GGG has good reason to do such a move. They dont. You can simply block people and idiots. And slowly people are used to have their freedom of speech restricted bit by bit; First in entertainment, where it should be the least problem of speaking controversely, then in publiy, maybe someday even in politics...

Those points are really bothering me, eventhough i only use the chat to communicate with my friends and talking to potential traders, while having the ALL-Chat mostly off anyway...

"Political correctness" has almost always been a catchphrase for "basic human decency" outside of its original conception as a term used to describe how people would obscure and suppress criticism of political demagogues. Whenever you hear someone complaining about "political correctness gone wild", their complaints can pretty much always be boiled down to, "I can't be a total jerk to people without consequence anymore"

On a more practical note, GGG/Tencent's choice to specifically ban political content rather than enforce standards of just being decent to each other probably stems from laziness, it's easier to mass search political words/catchphrases and ban that, possibly through algorithm, rather than paying moderators to actually supervise discussion in chat and forums and stop harassers/bigots/jerks.

I think the word your looking for is "civility" and precedes "political correctness" "party line" or "mass line".
