Should be applied after blocking, if I got my order of operations correct.

So, IE. 8k Physical Damage -> 4k Physical (after blocking) -> Armor + PDR

Unless armor is getting some changes, this notable will be mediocre at best.
Armour? WTF is that?
You mean that stat which has no meaning when a boss throws a 100k hit at you and connects? No matter how much your mitigation is, if it connects you loose 10% of your level.

Defenses in this game are pretty suck... because when something gets through (and it will) you die, immediately. High dodge/block helps keep most of those hits from connecting, but 5% of the time it will, and you will die.
If you rely on armor... you die.

I disagree. You should be moving OUT of big hits in melee range.
my interest in these jewels are the changes they make to the small nodes, like what the +10 str becomes, or the fire attack damage; depending on the starting location of the character that can give builds %armor/mana from the small passives where there's not alot or life, etc.

The only major node reveal that seems useful so far has been for me glancing blow.

I suppose this node can be useful to squeeze a little more out for EB characters where you will be reserving what little natural mana you have anyways and using ES to fulfill mana reqs, else for anything else it just seems not too good considering that to get mana in the first place requires quite a bit of node investment.

Another one that can put this to use is those that either have some sort of extremely low-no mana costing skills, or spends life, or doesn't cast things except auras.

on the other hand maybe this conversion works independently to max mana gained as energy shield for hiero/watcher eye effect. so if you had 1000 flat mana you still gain 300 flat es as extra maximum alongsides 1600 armor, but that sounds a little too gud to be tru.

Armour NEEDS to have effect on magic damage. 95% of what is killing me is elemental or chaos, even with no armour chars.

Armour should be able to:
- reduce by x% the hits from fire damage
- reduce by x% the effect of shock
- reduce by x% the chances and duration of freezing and chill
- slow down the damage dealt by chaos dmg over time

Something like that, so it's not just a massive investment for 5% of the hits you take.

ESPECIALLY with the new dodge stuff and reworked boss that should be easier than before to dodge attacks.

Yes, I have. However, that's a major systems change - equal to if not exceeding the other changes they're making to melee - and yet so far none of their marketing coverage of the league has even hinted that this is actually happening. And armor has been shit for way longer than even Berserker has and yet so far it hasn't been reworked at all. They've updated even more recent elements in the game, but not armor, so forgive my skepticism on this.

After. Problem is I think we're only allowed to use one of these jewels, similar to Watcher's Eye. Could be wrong on that, tho.
