Queen's Decree, what is it for?

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but -- summoners?

This sword is really useful for this Full Spectrum Summoner build that can be seen as a Dominating Blow Summoner.
DB needs a sword/blade, and I don't need any dps on it, and as a summoner this unique properties are great.

This build is still in the work, interesting, but with some early mistakes (1st build), maybe not optimal even with a good start, and much more busy and fun than classic summoners.

Also I use this sword in the aggressive configuration. I can switch instantly to 1h + shield for a defensive posture (losing 1 spectre & 1 minion, though) and use my alternate strategy.

Hi, I'm happy to see so much discussion about the Queen's Decree. =)

I'll mention one thing I was thinking about while designing this item. The sword gives you a chance to have a second 5L or 6L, but with mostly non-blue sockets. This was designed to encourage you to make creative gem combinations. I personally use this:

cheers! =)

Why on earth would you make a double handed sword with stats that might be perfect for a Death Knight but have such low damage on it??? Why not just make it a staff and be done with it?? A two handed sword is meant to see battle up close fighting along with all my minion skeletons!!! ffs....

People in this thread have already talked about ceremonial weapons such as a sword of state which act as part of a ruler's regalia rather than a weapon of combat.

Fundamentally the important bit about queens decree is that it is a possible 2nd 5l or 6l which can be used to offload a bunch of your support skills in to it.

generally speaking i farm atziri with a queens decree because i can get 2 2x vaal haste / hatred with generosity and increased duration ( 3g 2r is trivial on a queens decree). This is useful since curses arent very good for doing atziri in the first place.

unfortunately because of GGG's careless nerf to revenants and the queens dex str background it is actually an inferior end game summoning item to sire of shards which provide 130% more damage to each revenant which more than makes up for the loss of a specter and zombie. it also makes it easier to run curses on your chest since both curses and specters are blue gem heavy.

thats thething with summoning weapons , all of them come with quirky downsides so undesirable for core summoning builds that many people use other uniques over them.

hell there are builds where arumvorax is a better summoning item than both queens decree and midnight bargain and people use arumvorax for explicitly 1 stat on it....
I have used lifesprig at level 85 because again queens and midnight have frustrating drawbacks.

And ggg is still stingy on summoning mods on rares sad to say.

Right now I use Midnight Bargain just because I got it for 1c.

But you instantly notice that something is wrong if an item like Midnight is avaible for 1c.

It's mainly because summoners didnt really get that many improvements (besides for leveling, which is a nice thing) and still have a very weak lategame scaling unless you can reliably access high level spectres and even than a lot of your damage comes from zombies which simply stop scaling relatively early compared to spells or even more attacks.

Queens Decree is a nice and cheap way to get additional power early on but later its downside is no access to necromantic aegis or no shield for your own defense, which can be a big one.

Midnight basically is 30% less life, compared to the reduced amounts some other items have that again is a considerable downside.

Montreguls just reduces your damage and total HP of your zombies for making them a bit harder to kill with AoEs, which would be good if they would not have changed the AI to completly ignore those 5 zombies you will have left.

Femurs again is nice, but as a 2h weapon it limits shields and it has no increase in numbers of minions.

So often other items like Aurumvorax, Dying Breath (although it is preferable on a Guardian) fill that spot. Not sure about Sire of Shards though since it is a Nova effect, so most of the additional projectiles are fired backwards into nowhere and a lot of stats on the staff are wasted. But its another example for items that can work with summoners better than actual summoner items.
I like this item a lot for lvling as summoner from cruel act 3 when u can start using undying incinerators or flame sentinels spectres , have got some minions nodes already and some levels on raise spectre gem. +1 spectre and extra minion damage, earlier on, enables to play smoothly as summoner without any spell/trap damage skill usage .

I like to use it until i step out of merciless dried lake or tier 1/2 maps when i get good rare shield , other rares pieces and I get vis mortis + montregul's grasp summoner uniques.

not on revenants, revs have a unique firing style that overrides the nova effect =D its not actually a normal attack, you can sand box this pretty easily with gmp which instead of adding 4 projectiles in a forward cone to revs it simply adds 4 projectiles to their pre-existing sprinkler firing arc.

I do agree that the minions zombies and skeletons stop scaling too early.
But this is on the minion cap.

things like srs dont really have a cap so they can use more things to scale.

at this point ggg should either make the later levels of raise zombie add more zombies or add more late game scaling items.
